Every single person in here laser focused on the whole "18+" thing has completely and utterly missed the point. At no point did the GM state that was the issue, which is the ACTUAL issue going on here. That the only reason the GM said the suspensions were being issued is for "inappropriate" behavior is silly because "inappropriate" could mean literally anything. Inappropriate in what sense? In what context? Inappropriate because it was sexually implied? Inappropriate because it wasn't related to the game or game mechanics? What exactly is "inappropriate"? Anyone pointing at the 18+ thing... I think that speaks more about you than it does the GM.

The GM has gone on an RP crusade before, last year, and the 18+ topic wasn't even brought up because it had nothing to do with what was happening. "18+" is being used as a scapegoat, and not even by the GM, but by the community itself.

I also read some comments about "good riddance, the sooner the ERP brothels are gone, the better" and all I have to say to you is this.

Just one thing, but from past experience with literal fucking predators in this game, the GMs are instructed that anything that's outside the game cannot be used as basis for an in-game punishment. They won't even ban people who are preying on kids for real if there are no in-game logs.

So why does everyone think it's carrd? And even if it were the 18+ carrd, wouldn't that mean the GM was still breaching policy by issuing a warning for something on a third-party platform?
Addendum: Yes, they changed this rule for Twitch, but only for Twitch. I even recently spoke with a GM about things like RMT on Twitter and was told third-party platforms cannot be used as evidence except Twitch specifically.

It's linked to them in game. It's just like how Arthars got hit through his stream over attacking a player. He said nothing in game. FFXIV knows it is his character connected to the stream. SE also knows these carrds are connected to the characters.

Stream is the cinch. The ToS cites Twitch to be an exception to the otherwise standing rule that third party platforms are not punishable. Selling art for gil on twitter, for example, even linked ingame, can't be punished under current policy.

They don't have to do so, but it is the common link. You put an ERP carrd in advertisement or on your character's info, and you are putting yourself at risk. SE made it quite clear to not advertise ERP. You keep something like that private.

This thread was never about ERP or selling/advertising ERP. The GM's only justification was "inappropriate", which is a barely defined term at best in this scenario. Harassing someone is inappropriate, too. Is that what happened? What is the "inappropriate"?

If the GM had simply stated something as short as "your advertisement contained a link with services that break our terms of service", then this thread wouldn't exist. We would all definitively have known what the problem is. But until such a clarification is made, pointing to the carrd's ERP services is missing the point at best and scapegoating at worst.

Calling it "an ERP carrd" is disingenuous at best. By this logic, I could be banned for a Tumblr or Twitter link, both of which contain NSFW content. Many discord servers do as well - are we no longer permitted to include a discord link because it might have an NSFW channel?

The carrd's focus was far and away not on the adult part of the venue. Of nine pages on the carrd, only one mentions adult RP, and it's only one of three sections.
