So we cant buy a house on oceanic for a few months?

    From FF14 site https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...6e00471b385880

    "Sale of Plots and Apartments
The various residential districts on the new Worlds will be unavailable at launch, in order to provide an opportunity for both existing and new players to purchase housing. This restriction will be lifted when the sale of plots and apartments begin in Patch 6.1."

Makes sense. By their own admission the way their system currently works for housing is very flawed and it needs to be addressed. I don't think they'll want people buying houses on a new server where system has problems, and not only that, still doesn't address a players' ability to essentially buy an entire ward.

This always happens on new worlds in order to try and allow new players a chance to get the funds needed to purchase a home.

Yeh makes sense i guess, bit annoying though if like me you own a house on kujata, and then transfer to OCE and be without one.
    But i understand.

Existing home owners would be heavily disincentivized to move if it means giving up their secured plot.

Yes im still deciding, im in australia and the latency is not to bad, the only thing really stopping me though is the house, as 1. Like most it took along time to get , and 2. even after the wait to get one on OCE i might not get one anyway if they go quick.

This happened with Twintania and Spriggan. Funny thing is, once we got housing, hardly any plots were bought for a looooooooong time because the server populations were so small.

I was hoping this and now they have also added 5 servers, im hoping there is alot of houses available....... but my concern is there are alot of oceanic players spread out everywhere and i think the will be a massive influx to OCE, was Twintania and Spriggan, just eu to eu? (im not sure as i wasnt playing back then).
I guess all i can do is give my house on kujata to a alt, and if i cant get a OCE house ill transfer back.

Given that they're opening Ishgard housing in 6.1, it's not surprising that they'd wait to open all housing districts at the same time.

In fairness, the entire player population was much smaller then, too. Some have said EU alone has tripled in pop since then.

But yes, very likely to start with, all the new servers are going to feel like low pop servers, and anyone that wants to be where the crowds are will avoid them (despite cross world play..). It takes a fair bit of time for things to shake out and stabilize. But, it's a chance for folks to build a whole new community.
