    And in Aion(Korean MMO) there's more of both.

    The companies have to appeal to their locals but that's not to say other regions are unimportant.

    Which is absolutely true. Japan has a population problem and will continue to do so until there is an actual culture change when it comes to prioritizing work over family/friends. So until japan changes this culture that all work and no play is the only way to be successful they will continue to have population problems.
