Didn't the devs say that their worries with World Travel were alleviated when they saw how it panned out after a while anyway?
The same should apply to region travel.

Weird first they were promoting this data center travel and now it seems like they want to pull back from it and monitor player opinions. Which is strange since I haven't seen many against it and most seem to want it sooner than later. At least in the English speaking communities
I think the cross datacenter traveling is great. Lovely that they finally are implementing this. But Cross Region data center traveling had even been more awesome. Would love to see some NA players also. And regarding market board and ruining markets it could been possible to just turn off market board access when Cross Region data center traveling.

While I feel like it's a bit of both, as a person with characters on both NA and JP servers, there's a huge difference in the markets. Some of the things that I've been able to afford on my JP character, I can't afford on my NA characters as market prices are significantly higher on the NA servers. Market prices saw a rather big spike on Yojimbo when ShadowBringers brought in it's influx of players. Even the housing market there rose and what was once a server where players could upgrade to a bigger plot whenever they wanted to without worry that there wouldn't be any available when they were ready, turned into there now being no plots available.Source
What do y'all think about this?
Feels like SE is protecting the JP server markets from being raided by the gaijins.
Or is this reading too much into it?
This just confirms what we've known for years. NA and EU are considered second class to JP in the dev's eyes.
It makes sense that they're not allowing cross-region data center travel... While the increase in ping isn't huge when going from one region to another, it can still be enough to mess with gameplay though... ARR Titan landslide hits from across the arena or spells getting interrupted by the game thinking you're still moving when you start to cast...
Also, the data center you want to travel to needs to be able to grab your character's data from your home data center, and then communicate any changes to the character back to it... Which would just be extra load on the data centers...

I assume it's just logical data centers now because all the data center servers are physically next to each other for NA but they're across the world for JP. It is a shame that this probably means NA servers will never leave California, where only people in California have decent latency to them, since moving a data center to east coast NA would likely mess with the cross DC travel.

I mean, I don't really want to play with Americans either.
