I Srsly dont want this whole thing to happend. Its a reason i picked a certain Server and data center. Its a Reason why i want to be on a low pop server. It may not affect me, but the idea is still out there.
I understand people make friends thru discord and etc. over the data center. But what is the point exactly? Just pop up and si "hi hi<3" and leave? I understand the whole "immersive role playing" being played into. This is what the game is based off.

Having cross server was good for PF. But then cross server visit happend and i did not like its direction(market for example). I understand they want to "balance" out their servers so people can be on.. But before people creating characters it is OBV they pick one with "most populated" for social aspect.

There's no reason not to want this to happen, and it's very weird that you think keeping datacenters are closed-off units is good for some reason. Allowing DC travel will greatly expand raiding opportunities for players all over the world. There's no good reason why I should not be able to raid with people on Aether or Crystal while having my home world on Primal. None.

There is always a reason to oppose against it. And there is always reason to want it to happend.
Even if its wierd or not.
Yes indeed it will "Greatly" expand raiding oppertunitites for players all over the world. But is that it? Is this the reason they're doing it?
Server travel is already good enough and even "big" enough. There arent much latency problem(it is doable appearntly).

Before Party Cross-Over happend it was hard to gather party for Gordias Savage from your own server. When they made it possible it became reasonble since we meet eachother in DF anyways.
Then Server visit happend. Which "kinda" was a good thing(social aspect of it ofc). I was open for it but i didnt like it i just stay on Spriggan.

The point is that options are always good. There's no good reason to keep primal, crystal, and aether closed off from each other. The only reason at all would be some weird datacenter prejudice which just makes no freakin' sense to me at all.

I hope at some point all data centers of the same regions end sharing DF and PF, probably their idea. On the other hand... hunts are going to be even more of a clown fiesta.

I don't think so. I believe you have to log in and out to change datacentre. Unless its a very quiet time of night... it's probably just going to be too slow to do this consistently.

I want NA and EU linked at the VERY least.

Currently on NA playing from the UK due to friends, but I'd like EU server travel to actually be able to play certain classes.

Yeah, something like this. Ping isn't an issue in my case (even though I play NA from EU myself), but going EU DC would actually benefit me in terms of running some content with people and/or my FC buddies. All they have to do is just disable market board and problem solved.

The reason I want to travel from NA servers to EU ones is because I'm an EU player on an NA server. This happened because my group from FFXI was a mixed group (global servers) and there were more Canadian and US players than EU. Now we have a mixed bunch of about 60% NA/40% EU. Some of these folks I've been playing with since 2004. I don't want to split the group, so I'm on an NA server.

It's even worse now because the servers moved to the West Coast US. I would like to preserve my social group and not suffer from poor ping. I'd like to do duties on an EU server. Sure, I could move - and lose most of my Free Company.

I've just posted as well. As a group which was founded from FFXI players (I know this isn't the case for many) the servers there were global. So I have friends from Alaska to Singapore. Many of us joined FFXIV as a group and as the majority were NA, we ended up on the NA data centre. Some folks did move to the EU data centre but most of us are still together. Add in the moving of the physical data centre to the West coast, it really feels that we're being disadvantaged for staying with friends we've known since 2004.

I was desperately hoping to visit friends on the EU data centre from Aether and to complete more demanding duties there...
