Every Single A4S farm party in a nutshell

"Haha wow guess this isnt working, gg, later guys". *Group disbands*

Every. Single. Time. Without fail. They all claim to have "done it before" with another group that somehow did it perfectly several times in a row, then demonstrate they have no idea what they're doing, fail over and over, and just disband. Starting to think I'm being lied to.

What is it about Fundamental Synergy that filters 99% of people anyway? How has SE managed to make a mechanic that the vast majority of their playerbase cannot for the life of themselves wrap their heads around? And why does a full lvl 90 group still get one shot by it unsynced with 80% echo buff?

Hi, welcome to FFXIV. Clear party is phase 1 practice party. Farm party is phase 1 practice party. Clear for a friend is phase 1 practice party.

Everyone always has already cleared, but it's always phase 1 practice party.

Most of us call that O12S. Use continuous numbering throughout the entire expansion's raids. Personally I hate that convention but that's how we do it and if we did it some other way we would end up burning three letters each expansion or have to switch to two-letter labels. And then potentially AS could mean Alexander:Son, AlphaScape, or ASphodelus and all semblance of order would be out the window.

Back when it was relevant I was able to clear O12S without much issue, even one handed (literally - I broke my shoulder and ended up changing all my keybinds to play with one hand for a few weeks of our reclears).

But I have to say if I tried it now I would have no idea what I was doing. I bet that a lot of people saying they've cleared did so long ago and are probably really rusty, used to doing things different ways, etc. Basically like they're totally relearning the fight.

It'll get better once we're further into EW with better gear.

The problem is Fundamental Synergy is an auto-oneshot mechanic. Irrelevant of your level or gear, you just die if even 1 single person messes it up. Which is stupid IMO, a full 90 farm party should just be able to whack it and collect the mount like they would any other pre-SHB savage/extreme. You can easily do Alexander 12 savage at lvl 80, but for some reason Alphascape is just so insanely punishing that not even a full 90 group can clear it without trouble. In fact Alphascape V4 savage is the reason I don't even bother with savages outside of unsynced farm parties. If savages post Omega have mechanics like that (I understand Fundamental Synergy since I watched guides, but how the hell is anyone honestly going to figure that mechanic out on their own? Nothing about it even remotely hints as to what you need to do and you need to be very VERY specific in your positioning or you wipe if even one single person messes it up) than I don't want anything to do with them.

Alphascape has ruined my interest in doing savages altogether, which bothers me, but mechanics that are not remotely communicated to the player and require you to have pre-existing knowledge, and 1 single person making a slightly wrong movement causing a complete wipe is not fun to me.

Yeah, it's definitely one that you can't just yoloskip an mostly pray that the first 2/3 numbers don't mess up- if people cannot do that though, I doubt they could do the patch mechanic later on either.

At least we have a modern version of Fundamental Synergy which can be seen by running Asphodelos 2nd Circle (Savage) in PF.
