    Garleans (spoilers)

So i’ve been thinking... did we see any Garleans become blasphemys? The people in garlemald who did turn were from thavnair.

I speculate that Garleans (pure blooded anyway) would be immune to dynamis transformations, and that is why Fandaniel decimated them prior to dying.

Garleans cannot use aether, so having little to no control over aether they would have a far closer connection to dynamis, and thus have more control over, or be less susceptible to it. They would be stronger still do to all the suffering they survive through living in a frozen wasteland and being warmongers and such.

    Case in point, Thancred.
He lost his connection to aether after getting teleported with yshtolas flow spell. He was the only one strong enough to resist meteion as we approached her lair. She even said his will reshaped it to be habitable. His will was so much stronger because he had no aether to draw on only his self. He was still affected heavily because he did once have a connection to aether that he is still connected to but he was the last Sion to fall because he was strongest with/resistant to dynamis.

The garleans lived their whole life without aether, imagine how much stronger they would be against meteion. So fandaniel wipes them out so they don't become a problem. Except he had planned to kill Zenos too but we interrupted that plan

So Zenos is completely and utterly unaffected by meteion . Even without the Shinryu form i think he would have just waltzed around meteion if he just joind us on the flight in. Gaius was mysteriously absent the whole expansion, i think of he had joined the party on the spaceship he would have ended the battle far to quickly same as zenos.

Garlean souls are still composed of aether, as shown by the Reaper job quests, and also by Zenos having the ability to manipulate aether freely due to the Resonance procedure.

They might be more resilient and more in tune with Dynamis, maybe. But there's nothing concrete as to if they can even perceive it, either.

I'd chock it more up to being that they didn't turn any Garleans to Blasphemies, because they already showcased their portion of the suffering pie this expansion.

As for why Thancred was the last to succumb in combat with Meteion? Well, she cut off our air, and Thancred had taught himself to hold his breath for 10 minutes or something like that, as explained in Stormblood when he manages to swim into the residential section of Ala Mhigo alongside us, who have Beastmen blessing for breathing underwater. That blessing doesn't extend to lack of air, whereas Thancred's training does.

Combine that with him being one of the Scions to experience the most suffering, and actually admit to have embraced it before through an implication from his speech in Thavnair at the start of EW. That's why he was the first to combat Meteion. He retained consciousness long enough to strike a blow at her. Short of having that kind of training, anyone else would have passed out from lack of air just as quickly as the WoL and the other Scions did, regardless of their affinity for Dynamis.

I feel like that's going to be a subject that's potentially touched on in the 6.x MSQ, as every other region had a "prime" blasphemy that was significantly more dangerous then the others, but we never really encountered such in Garlemald.

Perhaps it's holed up in the Tower of Babil somewhere and its lower reaches will serve as a second dungeon as we know from Estinien's trip through the place that they had an extensive magitek research facility down there.
