Fisher vs. BTN/MNR ilvl issues

@Development Team: Will you guys please fix the only spearfishing jig we have in game that is a lvl 61 fisher offhand and either allow it to lvl like the leveling earrings that are typically provided as a CE pre-order item.

Currently I have Fisher, Miner, and Botanist all to lvl 90, and all on the same gear setup.

Miner and Botanist are both ilvl 560.

Fisher, due to the lvl 61 spearfishing jig is ilvl 523.

This really needs to be addressed because due to ilvling affecting gathering and perception levels this will affect all fishers in game post 6.0 and probably affected all of us during the 5.x story progression as well but it wasn't as noticeable during that time.

Hard to do end game fishing when our gear doesn't measure up.

Please deal with this ASAP.

That fishers have lower stats than botanists or miners does not matter because the stats needed are also lower for fishers compared to btn/min. So the fisher gear measures up just fine.

Fishing is tuned around the stats that FSH can get. While I would love to see the gig made into a tool with stats and upgraded every few levels the way that MIN and BTN offhand tools are, just to maintain the same ilevel as those two classes, ultimately it is unimportant given the tuning fishing has.

As Roth said, FSH as content is tuned around the stats FSH is able to acquire. You're not penalized in any way by a lower ilvl.

Ilvl is meaningless in the long run. What matters is the stats you have versus the stats the content requires, and how well you use the stats you have.

I get that the subweapon stats were "not planned" ; but that's a fake excuse after SB.
"Oh noes, you'd have +500 gathering that would break a lv.50/60 fish ; the +3000 from the rest of your lv90 gear is fine".

If you want an objective downside to the lv.61 jig : FSH get a penalty for spiritbonding since you get IV/V instead IX/X for the subweapon. it's both a waste of potency and inventory slot

That clearly wasn't the point being made.

There's plenty of fishing content getting added all the time. How does not adding a new gig mean we're not getting new content?

In the end, it's just a stat stick. It doesn't even have a physical appearance to be seen in game now that spearfishing has turned into the mini-game. They could add more gigs to the game but in return they would just increase the stats needed to do the content so it's a zero gain (same as they do to account for all the other gear upgrades we obtain). And you wouldn't really be getting more content because getting a new gig would likely amount to a couple of minutes of scrip farming. Scrip farming already exists as content and we have plenty of reasons to be doing it.

Since when does "no need to upgrade" equal "no need for content"? The answer is of course that they have never been equal.
