Housing are not "Trophies"

(I've been bit hesitant about posting this since i had "nowhere" to go with this or what point i wanted to make but i think i just yolo it)

Helo helo fellow houser!

My character name is Bell and i've been an housing enthusiast since HW.
I had plenty of homes in Goblet and Lavender Beds(Those two are my preference in terms of base interior). From Small to Medium to Mansion(!!). I once lived in Shirogane but the base interior...
meh it looks like a moth has eaten it and i relocated back to goblet. Anyhow.

I loved decoring my houses based on the theme of the ward(and city state). What i can do with the wood and colors to match. Keep the touch of Ul Dah or Gridania mixed with my style.
That made me enjoy housing even more to the point where i had to quit this game.(2 years ago. Had to quit due to overworking and busy schedule).


Before i quit i sold my FC(it was only me and 7 others who quit aswell) with a Mansion that were on Lavender Beds of my server.
I hoped that house could be in some use for the new owner and his comrades.
(He brought 4-5 people for a tour before taking over). I really had big hopes that the house would be "active" and the FC aswell. But that werent the case.
Now that i returned it is now a "empty" house with 1 owner of the FC. It kinda buggles me and made me regret the decision. (Yeah ive been checking out for time to time just to kill time in dps queue lol)

(I admint ive overflipped the house but i took the worth of it + the contribution of the fc which was altogether 75 mill.. he considered cheap so why not)

Owning a Mansion in this game may be considered as "have it all".
I've talked to people over on discord about housing situation.
-Some own houses as gil sink and "accomplishment"
-Some people owns houses for trophies.

"Trophies" got stuck in my head. It is the truth. I myself kept houses as "trophies" but ATLEAST i did something outside of my garden and decoring my house to look good enough for people to check it out.
Yes im proud of showing my work. Im proud of owning a house and have the privilage to do so according to the system.

But that boils me down to empty houses. Take my FC Mansion for example. As the pre-owner i kind of felt responsible. Other people could have enjoyed that house.
Maybe the buyer did at the start, but decided to quit? Who knows.
I kinda wish he had the same "mindset" as i do.
But i can't simply force or expect people to do the same.

In the end i WISH alot of new players or old player who never had gotten the chance of owning a house...
experience what i have experienced. It may just be a "side" content. But i want to aim at people who has passion for this kind of content.
Its just sad how Houses are easily wasted as a «empty» trophy that has not been polished in ages.
It’s also sad how very limited the system has to offer to its player. We are now a large playerbase.

Are there any problem in housing system? Yes. Yes. Yes. It's sad to see people stand outside of a placeard to get a house.
What can we provide to SE to fix this problem?
Now that they add another district with 24 new wards i feel like the problem wont get fixed anymore. As if its too late to do anything about it.
Instance housing may be the best solution but it may be complicated for them to work around..

Currently i live in small house in Goblet. I exchanged my private medium to a FC that had small plot in goblet.(before the timer luckily).
They had the perfect Small house close to a Market Board which i much prefered. Haha.
Small Houses may not be considered a "wow-factor" in this community but its a luxury atleast.


I felt that i was going nowhere with this post. But i wanted to share it. Share nonsense mayhaps.

It's not nonsense, it's how you feel.

Not everyone feels the same as you do though. Some see housing solely as a way to make gil and treat it as such. Sadly, the ward system works far better for those players than for the players who simply would like to have a house to express themselves creatively.

Ah!!! Thats what been stuck in my tounge while i was trying to come up with examples!!!
Its so sad. There are many ways to make gils. But i can understand they can gain «big cash» suddenly if they can make an attempt to overprice it ALOT. I am no better myself. Now that they add RNG for buying a plot i can imagine people are now findinh ways to bypass that.

Tis true. Each apartment I have for my characters is unique to them and I love it despite it makes me poor as hell. It makes me sad when I see FCs buying up like 4 plots on Goblin, which destroys any chance of someone else owning them.

I must admit my housing experience in Rift online was the absolute best of the best of the best
I owned max slots with multiple characters and each one was a literal ZONE of my personal creation. To build anything, change weather, the sky!! anything and everything.
We purchased zones not a home, to build in!!)ugh was perfection.

Now what we have in ffxiv ,it is extremely limiting but still a way to express and create!!

Enjoy any size of house in ffxiv OP ,they are all a way of expressing ones likes/dreams and personal taste. ♥
