Is the game losing players rapidly?

Week 3 of savage and I noticed that there are not many public savage parties anymore? It's like everyone is tired of repeating the same crap all over again? Is there any other end game options combat wise? Are they going to implement another new tome to make us run old content again as end game?

This is not uncommon. (from what I have been told)
A good amount of people just go for the clear, maybe reclear it a few times, before they do something else.
Not everyone cares about the gear since it is basicly useless outside of glamour anyway. Not really helpfull that the next batch of crafted gear, which drops at the same time as the next raid tier, is better.

(This is what friends, that do complete each raid tier told me. Not a raider myself therefore I can not tell if this is 100% correct)

Every MMO loses ~40% of the playerbase in the first 1 - 3 months after a release. Yes, it sounds like copium but it is the truth. So this is normal.

Don't underestimate the amount of people that play FFXIV solely as Final Fantasy game for the story. They contributed alot to the queues, however they leave once they've done all the casual content there is and come back at later patches.
Currently you can't create new accounts which plays a role too new players can't even start the game right now.

Also alot of WoW folks that started FF are undecided whether to stick with the game or return to the game they've invested over a decade of their time. Especially now with the Microsoft news and 10.0 leaks that happen they take that copium and understandably so, I wouldn't want my time spent on a MMORPG to be completely wasted either.

Other than that, people play other games in general in their off time, you don't always have to be online in FFXIV. Get your daily expert done, maybe raid which is also a fixed time if you run with a static. Neither beastman dailies nor relic quests are out yet so there is not much else mandatory to do.

A good chunk of the congestion was also from RMT bots. With ban waves going out and new account sales still locked, they can't immediately pop back in. We'll see how that goes when sales are unlocked again.

Your friends are right. Once you clear keeping at it is pointless unless you want said gear for glamour, enjoy getting good logs, Ultimate fight is coming or you really enjoy clearing those fights. Other players that only care about MSQ will also leave once they are done with that and come back at a later date.

As Larirawiel mentioned loosing population is totally normal.

It's always so peaceful in town without those scrambledname hyurs constantly advertising.

EW phase is over, most people has finish the story. for others who has no intention to do savage or crafting especially players who only play for the story, they probably move on to other games.

I noticed significantly less Savage parties last night as well. Even Monday night I saw over 100 parties recruiting in the high end trial tab on Primal. Last night the most I saw was 80 at 6 pm pst. Not sure what happened. It was very strange for a Tuesday. Extremely sudden dropoff
