IIRC they don't even remember what they used to look like when they were mortal, or at least the shades of Omicron we meet work that way. On a similar sad note, imagine if Omega actually did find the strength to come home only to return to a completely dead world. Makes me feel bad for the poor robot. (And wish that story was better + had a different ending, but that's an argument for a different day.)

..I hope we never get an answer to this but, yes, I am going to imagine the original Omicron base people to look like Chocobo Dungeons design, because it pleases my sense of dramatic irony and whimsy. Or hey- maybe they looked like Amano's original design for the chocobo from the FFII concept art- that featherless creation

Well, we do have Omega still in existence, and some form of his people still in existence, and a starship permanently linked for fast travel to where we can find those people...

I'm skeptical that Alphatron was even destroyed.
They would surely be impervious to anything Metetion could do to them.
Seems like they're probably just still in standby mode.

I just took the whole Omicron back story as just another Battlestar Galactica reference (their backstory is almost spot on for the original Cylons from the original 70's BSG) and didn't really think much more of it, because, it's likely SE themselves haven't given much thought on it either.

That and the base for their in game model is actually taken from the Caturae enemy from FFXI but given a major texture alteration to look more 'futuristic', plus losing the 'joker' head (many of the other mechanical entities fround there like the Delta enemies are also from FFXI), I wouldn't read too much into it other than it's momentary window dressing for the story, to fit into the "advanced alien civilization whose ambition outstripped their abililites and in their hubris are now lost in despair" theme that runs through Ultima Thule.

Its my theory that all the destroyed or ended civilizations were reborn on Etherys. The dragons are here, omega and alpha are the omicrons.... the namazu are clearly the civilization that died by poison in the 90 dungeon (their bodies match exactly under the diving suits). Garleans could be the 2nd area war civilization. I havent quite placed the Ea or the 3rd dungeon people but im sure ill theory it eventually

The dragons were not "reborn" on Etheirys; Midgardsormr directly fled his homeworld and crossed the expanse, bringing the eggs of the First Brood with him. All dragons on Etheirys today are descended from them.

Likewise, Omega has come directly from Alphatron pursuing Midgardsormr. It isn't anything new or reborn, just a lone entity from elsewhere, and Alpha directly created from it.

And really, recycled body models tell us nothing, because the game reuses them all the time for things that have no connection to each other. I'm pretty sure that Namazu are recycled Tonberries to begin with. The Omicrons might be built from Sahagin models (as suggested above, if correct) but so are the Faust enemies from Alexander and certain voidsent demons, which all surely have no connection to each other.

The Omicrons say that their original forms were very weak, and that's why their race pursued strength. Perhaps they really were tiny, chibi alien Chocobo-like people.

Reborn was a simple generalization, yes dragons and omega flew to etherys. But they found a new home there and live there now. I still theory that all the other civilizations found some way to appear on Etherys once their own words died. Ea are moogles now in my theory. The way their heads keep popping off just makes the perfect poms. Their bodies remember their former shape even if they do not.

Yes if you want to just talk about the real world recycled/reskined 3D models means nothing lore wise. Its just a cost saving bla bla bla...

This is lore and imagination and story. I still hold to my theory as it has interesting ramifications until something something official is released to say otherwise. Im certain game devs randomly read about what us normal people post and may even get ideas from what is said. My creativity is sparked thinking about possibilities and sharing that may spark something back to the devs... or they just may laugh at me, either way a positive result.

For me, the idea has to be coming from the story itself for the "interesting implications" to be worth pursuing, outside of specifically regarding it as "a nice idea" without any supporting proof.

There are indeed potentially interesting implications in Omega's choice of "frail test subject", although the form of the Omicrons themselves would seem to contradict it.

And there are certainly interesting implications to be found in Sigmascape's Guardian being a replication of a Gordhonite war machine – at very least, a suggestion of what else we might see as Stigma-4 works to recreate the lost civilisations.

But there's nothing in the lore to suggest that we should expect to see lost races spontaneously reborn in Eorzea, especially with so tenuous a link as "both went to war with someone" or "both have some kind of floaty aspect to their design". Those things are far too non-specific to be a suggestion worth pursuing.

It's a nice idea, if you like it. And it's certainly imagination, but it isn't "lore".
