Yes but those games end. This will continue.

Other final fantasies actually had threats for the main cast and killed them off. Final Fantasy 14 hasn’t done that since heavensward lmao.

It's the shonen genre escalation trope: every arc, things get bigger: your enemies, your battle ground (typical jrpg space battle), your powers, even debated philosophies. I'm okay with this, as the rise of all things came gradually, to me at least.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

This is the norm for every single final fantasy game. Start off as a nobody and by the end your fighting God.

I very much want to go back to being "just an adventurer" rather than the Savior of All Life Everywhere (SALE). Yeah, we'll always be the SALE by virtue of past actions, but that doesn't mean we can't put that aside and take up a life of adventure for the sake of adventure. Now that the Alliance nations, Ala Mhigo, and Garlemald are in a position where they can work out their political situations we don't really need to be involved in nation-spanning events any longer either.

I don't see a need for a literal nerf via some unexplained phenomenon draining a portion of our power, they can just hand wave it and have us continue killing monsters like we usually do. If you think about it, any monster or NPC that was able to challenge us must have had the power of Primals or greater, right? If that were the case, why haven't herds of Heffalumps and Woozles destroyed the world yet? Hell, how strong does our Chocobo have to be in order to injure monsters that "should be" World-Ending powerful? Are they the Warker of Light?

We have to suspend disbelief even further and accept that mobs in the overworld and dungeons have to be designed in a way to challenge us with each new expansion to provide fun game play, while also hand-waving narrative power creep on the WoL's part. Now that Hydaelyn and her blessing are gone, I see no reason why we can't be as close to normal as we can get, and continue killing monsters and exploring new areas without having to consider the relative power level of everything around us.

Stories are full of endings where The Hero(es) ride of into the sunset after killing The Big Bad. Who's to say we're not going to do that and future content is following us on our adventures post-"retirement"?

They're not mutually exclusive. You don't have to put aside any status to go on an adventure. What matters is the plot. The game even allows you to take on a raid quest and a mundane beast tribe daily quest at the same time.

He can easily kill the scions before ardbert joined us yet he didn't.
That's irrelevant. Was Emet doing his best in the fight? I think he was, and that's what matters.

And don't get me started at Azem crystal and elidibus. You might say "but emet help us during elidibus fight because it's mercy killing", you'll be right, but honestly it's dumb as fck. In order to make that narrative works, they made elidibus a half-ass person. This guy has led countless genocide over 12k years, they only need to rejoin one more world, and yet he refuse to remember because "remember things hurts me ("

So yeah, we only win because emet is too sentimental and elidibus being half-ass. Oh, and plus plot armor.
Again, we're talking about our character's fighting power. It doesn't matter what could've happened in the story. Our character could be beaten by being poisoned in our sleep, but that's irrelevant to the thread.

That's true. What I was thinking is more of a Superman / Clark Kent type deal. Superman is always Superman even when he's going around as Clark Kent, but Clark Kent doesn't get the sort of attention Superman does. If we, as the SALE, travel around in our SALE outfit, people will treat us as such and we'll likely continue to get pulled into grand scale things. I'd like to "become Clark Kent", go to a place where people don't know who I am, and adventure as Clark Kent, helping the lady across the street and not fighting Lex Luthor for the fate of the world.

The SALE will always been the SALE, but I'd love for the sCale of our adventures to be reduced.

Eh. I kinda like not being some random nobody. Considering everything we've done, even the things that weren't literally reality bending or world (un)shattering... We shouldn't be by this point anyway. Nobody who casually chills with the people we hang out with by this point is just some random dude.

Even without the blessing of light, the WoL stopped being a "normal person" a long time ago.

I forgot to quote the person I was replying to in regards to soul crystals, my b.

In my opinion, I'd say the Warrior of Light's mastery over 19 different jobs plays more than an important part in being viewed as a demi-god. How many characters do you know of that have mastery over even a fraction of that many jobs at once? By the time Shadowbringers takes place, the WoL is either inventing new techniques on the fly or resurrecting long forgotten skills that even masters on the source didn't know about. And it's all but stated that the WoL is inventing new techniques for Machinist, what with it being a brand new soul crystal with no memories imbued in it yet.

And that's not even getting into the whole "reincarnation of Azem" thing, considering they were trained by Venat who is also shown to be capable of fighting as a Paladin, Dancer and White Mage as opposed to Hades being a Dark Knight and Black Mage while Hythlodaeus is solely a Bard.
