There is some healer gear in the game that looks armoured and isn't too far off what some tank gear looks like, but you will never be able to glam your weapon into a weapon for another job. SE have shot this down already. They want jobs to look distinct from one another and being able to glam weapons from other jobs would completely ruin that.

Never mind how being able to glam weapons from other jobs would make ability animations look really bad. Certainly as a sch I would look like I'm trying to decapitate myself every time I casted a spell if I glammed my book into an axe.

And sorry to say this but between this thread and your other thread lamenting the absence of class specs because you want to play a healer paladin...bro, this game isn't WoW. It's totally fine if you prefer how WoW does some things, but some of the things you're asking for would make FFXIV lose some of the pivotal things that makes it distinct from WoW. You have to accept that classes/jobs are handled differently in different games.

And yet we have DRK katanas, a PLD gunblade, and a whole host of non-RPR scythes.

None of those specific weapon models can be used by any other job. For example that drk katana cannot be used by a sam, nor does the exact same model exist for sam elsewhere. Only a drk can use it. That is my point. If a specific weapon is already used for a specific job then another job cannot use it at all, and SE already said that they have no intention of changing this.

That cannot be used by all jobs and that weapon was never made for a specific job.

Man I wish I could equip it but having a class that has animations for a book...well SE would have to remake the animations for my entire job so I wouldn't look like I am constantly trying to slice myself when I cast anything.

OP wants pld weapons as an ast...can you imagine how ridiculous that would look with spell animations? The sword would be constantly clipping into their character model.
