What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

I don't think they meant for that kind of message tbh but the fact that you can make so many head canons and not having a good coherent story is why it is bad.
Again, trying to fit 2 expacs (at least) worth of stuff into a single patch is bound to fail.

Oh, I'm sure they didn't mean to send that message. But that's worse. Because to defend Hydaelyn, people must go on and on about our superiority and survivability and thus why it's okay for those lesser people to be fodder on the pyre of our ascension. It is the very fact that they made that their moral by accident that horrifies me. We went from hard hitting moral questions in Shadowbringers to genocide apologia in Endwalker and that's one heck of an oopsie to make. And it erodes my trust, especially given this is a game that likes to preach and we're heading to it's version of the Americas. I can think of so many ways that can go terribly, terribly wrong even for people who didn't produce Endwalker. For the people who did, to have our heroes headed to the Americas...I'm just hoping I won't spend the next two years arguing with people who insist slavery was necessary actually.

ETA: Though now that I think about it. It makes me wonder if they didn't fully understand why Shadowbringers' moral dilemma worked and were trying to replicate it Endwalker but failed due to not getting what made the Ascians' actions grey. Because to me, Hydaelyn actions are pure black with a white facade painted over it and that's not the same as morally grey. That's some War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength type crap.

Oh how I wish my problem with Endwalker was that it had a lame saccharin sweet moral. Because see, the moral I got wasn't the power of feelings, but that for the strong to survive, the weak must be culled. And the weak are any ethnic group sitting on land we want and the mentally ill. Hermes, Meteion and the blasphemies are all dangers to society due to an inability to handle trauma. So much of a danger that the entire universe might end if these weaklings are allowed to roam free. They must be put down for the good of all. It's the kind of mentality that gets mentally ill people choked to death on subways because the passengers are afraid of their strange behavior.

How they gave our beloved mommy the same worldview as Zenos without noticing is beyond me. "Meaningless? Men die that others may live. Those who survive are stronger for it." How do you accidentally make an argument for fascism?! How did no one see what was being implied by Endwalker?

So by the time we get to the 6.1 content and they are sticking with morals as benign as the importance teamwork, you get no complaints from me because at least it's not about who we should exterminate for the good of all. But then based on comments here it hit me that Golbez has been working with others the entire time. Both before and after their world fell to darkness, so the argument that their world fell to darkness because they fought alone falls flat. They came out on a tricycle with training wheels and still messed up their themes. I am afraid for Dawntrail. I just don't trust these writers to not have us do a colonialism at this point.

I'm already getting my arguments ready as to why it's wrong to go to a foreign land, conquer them and install a government that serves our interests because at this point we didn't defeat the Garleans--we became them.

Well, it's gonna be a romp around fantasy Brazil. Which Japan has strong ties with due to sending a lot of people to live there and exchange in culture since the 1800s/early 1900s.

I'm not exactly sure what that means, but it's also shaping up to be full of FFIX references. FFIX was a game all about a dying planet come to consume a not dying one, and have its inhabitants whose souls were in stasis take new bodies and live on the new planet, once their old planet had merged with/consumed it.

I guess it COULD be interesting, but then the Scions are in the trailer, and they have a knack for impressing Sharlayan customs onto everywhere they go, albeit slightly more aggressive Sharlayan customs.

When they came out on the next Playstation, I'd sell back my old one and buy the next edition and every time the people at GameStop would marvel at how clean it was and I was too embarrassed to admit I bought it only to play one or two games. So imagine how feel right now when you tell me the plot off FFIX and I'm like WHAT?! I played this. I played nothing but this and I don't remember any of that. All I remember is Vivi was constructed.

Though if they do go with that plotline, I trust that the people coming to eat our planet will be the bad guys. That's all I ask.

Had replays ever occurred to me, I probably wouldn't have sold back all those Playstations. Plus, if I were to replay one I'd probably pick one where the plot stuck with me like VII or Emo Death Walk...errrr, I mean X.

As an aside, I think it's very telling that the entirety of the universe outside of Etheirys was basically nuked by Meteion and largely due to Venat's refusal to tell her people of the true cause behind the Final Days so they could potentially look into a solution that would save not only Etheirys but worlds beyond it...and now the game's protagonists are set to explore the broken remnants of dead worlds so they can build settlements of their own and reap the benefits in the process.
