What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

Add in posters swooping in to complain about the thread's existence and the cycle continues. Yet many of the formerly active posters here have since departed - save for a handful - with new posters with similar concerns weighing in over time.

Yes, but the catch is that I do want that thread to thrive, where else could I find proof that people have no idea what "context" means, and argue for two years over things the vast majority of the playerbase accepted as "necessary means to a cause that can widely be seen as pretty nice : life".

More on point : what I criticize isn't people seeing the game in a different light than I do, people are free to interpret and think whatever they want... But the fact some people go on a crusade for years, using words such as "genocide, eugenics and racial replacement", to describe a fictional situation, without using critical thinking, is really dangerous to me. There are genocides, eugenics and racial replacement IRL, but y'all are here arguing Venat is a bad person.

You're free to ignore the thread and the comments within if they bother you so much. Furthermore you can make all the bizarre insinuations you so wish about anyone using it for its intended purpose of leaving feedback relating to the game's story and attempting to police the use of words to describe the consequences of Venat's actions is quite frankly utterly bizarre to me.

As I've pointed out already, none of this opposition existed when such rhetoric was - and still is - used to describe the actions of the Garleans and the Ascians by both the game itself and various players. So the opposition certainly doesn't appear to be towards the use of such words - mysteriously it's only being considered a problem when applied to the pretty mother goddess figure that large swathes of the community seemingly imprinted on.

I'm not terribly certain what the relevance of such events taking place in the real world is, either. Other than a rather transparent attempt at emotional manipulation.

The story can fluff Venat up all it likes, nobody is obligated to like or dislike specific characters or even agree with them - so the insistence that Venat absolutely has to be seen and treated a certain way is just so strange. Perhaps you would be better served by taking your concerns to the development team - they're the ones who (intentionally or unintentionally) crafted a story that glorifies and presents a deliberate act of genocide, racial replacement and eugenics as an 'unfortunate but necessary' action.

Furthermore, Venat has herself been tied to so many aspects of the story at this point that it's difficult to avoid bringing her up even when attempting to discuss other aspects of the story.

I think you could just say people "lack media literacy" because that's basically all I took away from that.

It's also natural people are not going to be able to let go of something easily when the subject matter is still coming up in current content.

Yeh, these those things happen in real life, but this is a game forum. This is not the place to discuss real life topics. This thread was created specifically to discuss issues on the story, and that is what people have been doing. That doesn't make any of the things happening in real life less awful, as they most certainly are, but they don't have a place here and no one is referencing them. This is a thread about fictional people in a fictional world on a forum set up for that kind of discourse. Please do not bring real life into this.

As for why people are complaining... Many are complaining because they love this game and just want a place to discuss a different view and vent. There is nothing wrong with that, despite the myriad of posters saying to the contrary.

Honestly I wish Endwalker's story was as entertaining to watch as reading this thread is. The drama, the twists, the sass... it's got everything.

I get really bored with the story. My main issue is how it seems like every (unsolvable) problem is solved by Y'shtola pulling an allnighter and using aether or dynamis and some allegan device to solve our problem without any downsides.

There are times where I would rather ff14 had ff11 story telling where each expansion was a well written standalone arc where even the ff11 goddess and god weren't as badly written and genocidal and splitting the world into shards or sacrificing half the worlds population. Hopefully this next 10 year arc doesn't have some sort of new benevolent being that has some higher power then hydaelyn/zodiark.

I'm rather confused why people are of the opinion that because we are talking about fiction that words such as genocide and eugenics are off the table for use. Those things happened in history and stories are made that include those things as well. Do you get upset that people say racism exists in Baldur's Gate? If we're not supposed to label things as they are then maybe those things shouldn't happen in the story.
