What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

I also find it odd that we apparently spoke our recollection rather than they all just use the echo to see our memories and we see what that looks like from the outside perspective for a change. Takes like 2 seconds then we continue the conversation. Nah let's talk and fade to black.

Seriously though, I was disappointed that we went to Elpis and didn't get any training on how to further control the Echo. How cool would it be if we were able to use it on a more conscious basis?

So uh, why did Venat choose to try and grab Meteion with just her bare hand when she was chasing after her on Argos, when she could just generate a whip and yoink her from far away? Or hell, she could've just conjured her sword and slashed her, seeing as how she had already gotten within inches of her. By that point she could've easily hit her with her sword.

Or better yet, just blast her with magic.

Literally anything else besides her bare bloody hands.

Personally, I couldn't understand why there was this gaping hole standing open long enough for 2 people to ride on dogs from below and across the platform but it never occurred to Emet-Selch to grab Hythlo, snap to conjure his flying horse and exit the same way.

IIRC there was some sort of dampening magic in the facility that rendered everyone besides Hermes weaker hence why they couldn't just teleport out. I think. I would have to go back and verify this again.
