What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

I loved the story, thought it was a great wrap-up for something I've been with since the very beginning (and even the proto-beginning as it were). It even had one of the most beloved Final Fantasy staples, the Giant Enemy Space Flea From Nowhere that wanted to end all existence as we know it. Only this time the Space Flea actually had a good setup to it instead of literally just coming out of nowhere.

These forums will make you want to hate anything about this game that you once thought was ok.
Aside from the bunny filler arc and the Scions doing their weird things on ultima thule, I thought it was a decent/acceptable ending.
No sense STILL being upset about it 4 months after release.

I'm still mad about Dexter and LOST. I'll stay salty for as long as I like, but thanks for your input.

Tbf some people are, myself included. But also, the story isn’t the only reason people play the game now. People can still judge the story while enjoying some other aspects. All depends on the person.

Fortunately the game has more to offer than just its shoddy story. If it didn't, I wouldn't have an active sub.

I sometimes wonder if they were going to go with a Lavos-style villain as the big bad behind everything......then one day Ishikawa was going for a walk in a park and saw a blue bird fly by and an idea suddenly struck her: "wouldn't be a cool idea to make a cute little bird the big baddie?" and just completely derailed the original idea and that's how we got Meteion and why Meteion doesn't feel like she was originally what they had intended.

The hilarious thing was seeing people on Twitter and reddit after that letter talking about how genius it was as an idea. It was, like, so deep man. Almost as deep as "life is suffering" as a concept. Seriously, who hit Ishikawa over the head with the bad writer stick during this writing process?

I had thought the writers had taken inspiration from some deep, philosophical source for Hermes. Maybe based him off some old greek figure or literature. Surely with such heavy themes they must have taken very deep sources of inspiration right?

Funnily enough, there's the whole philosophy of Hermeticism, though it doesn't really have anything to do with being a sadboy with a bird daughter. The 'fall' of the original Man, maybe, and his fascination with the stars. There's also that one attack Nald'Thal has that's a nod to it...

I'm sure someone could write a 10k word essay about the deeplore of Endwalker (or an hour long video with plenty of ads in it!) but... social media. How do you do, fellow kids?

The social media thing seemed like an offhanded remark more than anything, rather than an actual inspiration. I don't know how people could interpret it otherwise.

When I first heard of it I thought it was in a "because you feel like destroying the universe after being logged for more than 10 minutes?" kinda way, but no.

Now I can't shake the feeling that one or more persons in the writing team are terminally online and that would explain a few things.
