No idea if it's Ishikawa's fault, but the fact is ever since she became the lead writer, it has become a very recurring thing. Cutscenes have been forcing very strong emotional reactions out of the player character way too often. It makes sense for Wedge to be very attached to it, it's part of his personality to see machines as living things. But it's really too much to force the player character to have this bizarre mourning gesture to a freaking magitek armor. How long until we start shedding tears if we see a flower wither in a future cutscene? Jesus christ.
I feel the same way, especially with Urianger's part on EW. He has a whole moon conversation with you, and then we have another CS with the same litany about a character who died in ARR. That scene should have been written above "Please cry here"
