It's fiction. It isn't real so I'm not sure what is meant to be 'deranged' about the matter.

I can't say I'm interested in policing personal tastes. I simply want a story that is consistent and coherent. I'm weary of the story claiming that something is 'unforgivable' when the 'bad guys' do it only to bend over backwards to excuse the same thing when the self proclaimed 'good guys' indulge in such antics.
