What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

I think she's getting at the line Hyth gives about handing the star over to the new lives. It's vague so I am assuming it may be referring in part to beings like familiars, although this may have been beings like Matanga or Lupins, and in either case there may just have been enough potential for intelligence with some guidance for them to view this life as a suitable candidate for inheriting the star over time. In any case, it does not seem like it would've been ancients or anything close to them.
