It's right here.

It's right here.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:

This. It was already explained that for whatever reason (possibly the elemental flood gone wrong) the 13th is remarkably closely connected to the Source. Because of that it's possible to create voidgates with enough power, that was Mhach's whole thing. And unlike the other shards the Source - Void connection allows naturally occurring planar fissures to occur, seemingly without cause.

Thanks for the answers. You all helped me to like this patch more

Still wondering, especially with the reintroduction of Leofard and The Redbills, if we'll be using the Void Ark / making that mandatory soon. They already set a precedent that they're willing to make 24 mans required for later MSQ. And the Void Ark has that giant laser that opens a Void Gate to allow it to fast travel, essentially.
And as far as I remember, the Void Ark is still intact
And someone said it on an earlier page, but yeah, even though I've really enjoyed this patch, it definitely finished super fast and already feels like there's not much to do. Granted, that's FFXIV patches or any patch in a nutshell. We can always consume content exponentially faster than they can create it. It was definitely so action packed that even with back and forth word fetch, I vaporized this patch in several hours rather than several days. All that's really left to us storywise is guessing games, as it was all pretty straightforward.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
Wish I could share your faith. It seems to me that they're not planning on doing the Void storyline justice, what with us having dispatched 2 of the Four Fiends in a single patch.Still wondering, especially with the reintroduction of Leofard and The Redbills, if we'll be using the Void Ark / making that mandatory soon. I think the complete opposite. What would be the point of having them spread out in multiple patches anyway? Even in the original game, they're very one-note characters. I'd rather have them tell the story in a way that feels the most natural rather than stretch them into a formulaic "villain of the patch" formula.

Doesn't feel like we'd have the time anyhow unless they planned on pulling them into 7.0.I think the complete opposite. What would be the point of having them spread out in multiple patches anyway? I haven't played FF4 but there's 4 Fiends and Golbez right? That's 5 fights for 4 major patches, assuming those are the only ones we'll be fighting
That's thinking linearly though, isn't it? Sure, if that's how it goes then it'll probably be a bit short lived, but I really have hope for the patches going forward and the next expac.
Everything about 6.2 felt right. The void/13th could be the next 1st or the next arc could be the next ShB and I'd be really hyped for that.

I can't find the exact quote, but I'm sure I saw somewhere that Yoshi said something along the lines of a "wrap up" of story in 6.5 with new stuff for 7.0, but I could be completely making that up.That's thinking linearly though, isn't it?
