When they have been actively ignoring DRK problems for years despite all the feedback they deserve some backslash, of course abuse is not acceptable but customers have a limit to they patience and in some cases they are just forcing the limits to much so I find normal that ppl start being less nice and gentle with them, I love this game and I want it to be better and sometimes they need to be call them out in proportion of what they are doing wrong or not doing anything at all.
Edit: of course behavior like death threads is not what I mean, that's unacceptable
Criticism isn't abuse.
Abuse is abuse.
As soon as you start saying people should be fired, are braindead, or have no idea what they're doing, you're abusing the people behind the job and not criticizing the work they have done.
Complain about what you don't like. State what you would like done. Leave the people who do the work out of it.
Very often I hear that rallying cry of "but people need to be called out". Almost exclusively it's by people trying to excuse their loss of temper without admitting it didn't have to go there.
Absolutely nobody is saying we need to excuse bad choices or changes, just that pointing out why they're bad or simply that we don't like them is enough.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
Treat others as you'd like to be treated has been working well for me.
Some wisdom I try to live by:
A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.

Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
I feel like anyone who is saying stuff like this is missing the point. Yoshida isn't asking people to walk on eggshells. He is asking people to be respectful with their feedback. It's not really on the players to fix the game though. I'm not in favor of personal attacks and such but I feel like you're advocating for people to walk on eggshells and that shouldn't be necessary. We should be able to call something bad or stupid if we think it's bad or stupid. Doing so isn't a personal or direct attack on a dev IMO.
Calling something stupid is fine, but calling a person stupid is another thing altogether. However some people see these as interchangeable so they outright insult the devs when giving their feedback, and that's the problem Yoshida is trying to highlight.
It's not a complicated message nor is he asking the players to do something difficult. He is asking for the bare minimum his team deserves - basic manners from players.please imagine that you're speaking face to face with a developer whom you may not know his name nor face and imagine how they'd feel before sending your feedback over, and I'll be happy if people can do so politely.
If anyone is missing the point it's you lot. The response you quoted, which is being taken out of context, is a response to someones initial response to what I originally posted. Which is that people will use Yoshida's statement to discourage people from giving feedback that doesn't align with their own. This community already does this as it is so it's not a huge stretch. I wasn't saying that Yoshida wanted us to walk on eggshells I was saying that the person who responded to my original post was.
The first 2 I can agree that could be interpreted as abuse. But if you think telling someone they don't know what they're doing is "abuse" then you may be a bit too much of a carebear. That is a criticism or impression that should be valid to make. Also keep in mind it's not something spouted out at the 1st instance of things not working as you'd expect, but is a reflection of a long time of neglect or multiple failed attempts at something. The game has been running long enough that such a criticism can be made in certain areas.

Naoki Yoshida:
Source: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/113554 at 1:14:22...Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
This is the reason why the ToS should be "vague" to a certain extent. People will try to follow the letter while breaking its spirit. So long as a post isn't in violation of the terms of service, I don't think it's really of much benefit for a subsection of customers to try and dictate how feedback is presented.
Furthermore, in my experience just because someone is a little brash or hot headed it does not mean that they are a terrible person. Such individuals are often prone to passion and sticking up for others even if they disagree with those self same individuals.
Also, while being a little brash or hot headed does not necessarily mean you're a terrible person, though you might have issues potentially, it can still mean you're breaking the ToS.
This is criticism: The retainers system is unwieldy and inconvenient, why can't we have access to all our storage in the same window like every other game nowadays?
This is abuse: Do you have high school part-timers writing your program for you? Who in their right mind would think this is even fine? You should fire all your programmers and get people who can acutally write proper code!
This is criticism: I hate how I have to sit around and wait for legendary nodes and time-gated nodes.
This is abuse: This design is stupid and so is whoever came up with it. And probably your mom too after what I did to her last night.
I think a lot of the arguments in this thread come from people talking about different things and some becoming defensive, defending something that wasn't attacked in the first place. YoshiP was talking about "abuse" being Not A Good Thing.
“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
― Ernest Hemingway
The only problem I have with this, is that community is screaming into a void. We don't know if Dev's are even reading any of this. And please don't tell me ''Yes they do'' since there is 0 proof. Blood Weapon and Heat Blast are proofs they don't. If we could, at least get small ''checkmark'' that Dev seen this or that post, it would be way better. But so far communication with dev's in this game is really bad, this is why so many people get mad since they're providing feedback for X for years, yet nothing changes, so now they're just mad and insult the dev's.
