Sudden FPS drops

Hello,

I started to play FFXIV since March/April, and I honestly love this game. One of my favourite games I play so far! But, since a few months I experience random sudden fps drops over the day. I never had this problem before, it started somewhere around end of August or September, and I only have it when playing FFXIV. To fix this I have to close the game and wait a few minutes before I can restart it again. The sudden FPS drops happen in cities, outside areas, dungeons, raids etc. You can say it happens anywhere in the world.

I tried to Google the answer and see if more players had these problems, but their solutions didn't work for me.
What I tried:
- Turn off VSYNC in NVIDIA Control Panel
- Get a laptop cooler to cool down my laptop while gaming
- Reset my laptop (08/01/2022)

I'm not technical at all, but I know my way around the laptop once I know what to do and where to look at.

Hopefully someone can help me with my problem.

Hey, if it is a laptop then it could be that it accidently activates some energy saving things and the game slows down. Set the energy profile to "Standard" or maximum.

And i would not use tools like CCleaner. The internal cleanup mechanisms in todays Windows are good enough.

Hey.

In this case it could be a problem with overheating and a piece of hardware throttles down to prevent damage. You can measure it with HWINFO64. You can download it here:
https://www.hwinfo.com/download/

Start this tool and then play the game. It will collect data and if the game is slow again then post a screenshot of the tool.

Yeah, your laptop is overheating. Should open the bottom up and clean it with an air duster / air can. Clean those fan blades and heatsink fins.

HWInfo does report temperatures, and does a better job of it than HWmon which is known to crash graphics drivers to blank screen,

The user is prompted at start on what they want hwinfo to display, Sensors only will immediately open the sensors panel.

By default it will open both the CPUID/GPUID and Summary panels, for which the summary panel has a button to open sensors.

Already did that in August and last month- Also bought a laptop cooler to cool it down.
Temperature of my laptop right now is 50 degrees, yesterday it was hanging between 70 - 78 degrees at the end of the day. Didn't had any lag/fps drop yesterday- But like I said, its very random.
