VIERA AND HROTHGAR COMPLAINT MEGATHREAD

Just a quick note to everyone, bare in mind this is just hypothetical question and nothing will come of it. The current races and their tribes are here to stay and won't be adjusted no matter how high the demand, think of all of this as a 'what if' scenario. I just like hearing different people's opinions, and I plan on continuing asking questions like these to engage with everyone.

Ohhh I‘m so hopeful the whole character creation system gets an overhaul (fingers crossed it comes with the graphical update, since I think they already must update textures of the races and stuff).
Would love to have something similar to WOW‘s allied races. Clans of races that use very similar body types to existing ones so the only thing they need to do is give these new clans different face options and maybe emotes. (The whole tiresome workload/adjustments for gear would fall) An example would be an elezen clan that uses the body type of viera or hyur. And *Boom* you‘ll have a really popular elf-like race.

I don't understand. How did they NOT expect people to want to be able to wear hairstyles they've worked for and even bought with real money on these races? It's incredibly frustrating. At least with Viera they seem to be moving along at a slow but steady pace. But Hrothgar? Why would you even make a beastial race if you weren't going to take the time and effort to dedicate to it so it felt just as robust and customizable as the other races? You can't even be orange and get that tiger look. I am baffled at how short sighted this all was. I know the devs can do better. But it really doesn't give me a lot of confidence that they can make female Hrothgar work at all if no ears is how they are going to treat adding new hairstyles.

I hope this is a wake up call to SE that they do need to hire more people and give more of a budget to FFXIV. This all screams not enough time/money/manpower rushing a product out. And it's honestly just not acceptable. No wonder Hrothgar are the least played class. For the longest time they couldn't even use the aesthetician. Can't wear vast majority of hats, no hairstyles, of course barely anyone is playing them. I really really hope they can do something. Even just letting the ears clip and having the option to take the ears away if people don't like them would be better.

Yeah it's a little weird that there's so many neon and colder colours for their fur. I know Ronso traditionally had cooler coloured fur but, that was FFX... why couldn't we have a warmer colour scheme?

The hairline for the "new" hairstyles in Viera look bad. I can live with the ears over the 2B headband, but not seeing a part going straight under my girl's bunny ears, lol!

They should have designed the Viera ears to be more...accommodating when it comes to adding hairstyles.

Or...I don't know, just gave us race specific hairstyles. Something they need to do with Hrothgar as well!

Just make race specific hairstyles for both Viera and Hrothgar, but also make them similar to the old hairstyles every other race has so the hairstyles people wanted for both races can be implemented without all the customization headaches due to both of their "unique head shapes".

Sad how "limited" races was meant as something special, as in they would be unique and have more customization but that the word limited has instead transformed into meaning that they have so many limits to what they can wear and how they can look.
I think, looking back now, I wouldve preferred they got their own hairstyles and hats instead of trying to give them the hairstyles everyone else have. And to just add the racespecific hairstyles to them like everyone else through the game. As how the nier raid gear changes look depending on sex, the hairstyles would change look depending on race. Like 2B hair looking the same but without the headband and so on.

I have a feeling they still wouldn't have done racial hairstyles anytime soon. Especially since they had supposedly just started "looking at" doing hairs for viera at the tail end of ShB. At best we would have gotten the custom hairstyles by next expansion, still those hairs would have probably been much nicer either way.

How did housing break this bad, did you not test things?

"Nah we do test our game, we test it all the time! We promise, we don't give our players half-finished stuff anymore, stuff that seriously breaks their experience of the game and limits how much they can do. Stuff like this just happens."

Random Modder: ...so I just flipped a metadata switch, here, have your ears back. Also Square Enix went from having 8 faces to 16 faces per Hrothgar clan. You can only change to your counterpart hairstyle, and even then, you're changing your whole head model, not just the hair. We'll see what we can do.

This just makes me feel so bad for the modders! Like they are that one person in customer service that is trying their hardest to help you with your problem, while SE is that one employee that plays on their phone all day and conveniently goes on breaks when a customer shows up.
