VIERA AND HROTHGAR COMPLAINT MEGATHREAD

Three years ago, female Viera and male Hrothgar were introduced. On the 7th August 2019 (prior to the pandemic) Yoshi-P stated on a live letter that a decision was made by him and his team that both Viera and Hrothgar will not be able to equip hats. This choice was made in order for these races to, in Yoshi’s words; ‘retain their unique features’ BUT he stated that we would receive in future patches race-exclusive hairstyles in order to compensate for the limitations. So, SE… Where are they? Was the idea scrapped? Why are we missing our compensation as well as hats? We need more communication.

These two races, as you said yourself, are unique.. So, over 2 years of waiting in anticipation and we get 6 short and obviously the easiest to be implemented hairstyles. But honestly? Majority of the Viera are still wearing their race exclusive hairstyles which speaks volumes. This attempt at making the Viera race equal to the others by giving us the other races hairstyles is obviously not making up for the limitations, because even IF you gave us access to all modern aesthetics and mogstation we’re still less than the other races. We still can’t wear majority of hats, not even the job ones. Yes, you could argue that we received circlets, some hoods and glasses but that’s only because the character development team made this possible because THEY DID IT IN THEIR FREE TIME (Unpaid, I might add) SE, you are capable of making the changes, but from an outside perspective looking in, you aren’t making the time for it. Why are the Viera & Hrothgar a (what seems to be) low priority?

The decision to implement the gender counterparts before sorting out the pre-existing issues was not efficient. There has been little-to-no communication on the matter. With this thread, I am hoping that eventually more people will use it to voice their opinion and actually manage to grab SE’s attention… but I’m not going to hold my breath because anything related to these two races usually gets thrown to the back of the forums within a couple days. I can only hope others openly share their disappointment so we can get answers about SE’s official plans for these two races.

People, do not push Viera and Hrothgar at the back of the priority list again because when people disregard this issue by claiming it as unimportant, it’s why SE doesn’t take action with haste. High demand is what keeps winning. Think of this post everytime you tell a Viera to “get over it” yet start demanding butt sliders and playable ivalician moogles - remember Viera are low priority because you’re contributing to it by belittling how these two races are treated. I can only hope that we don’t get ignored for another 3 years because SE are too busy with creating the high-in-demand female Hrothgar.

Whenever this subject arises on the forums I always have the exact same type of people say the same thing to me, so I’ll just attempt at counteracting those comments by nipping them in the bud in this OG post. No, I chose to play a race that, in SE’s words, were unique and would get more customisations overtime. Viera are the only race in the FF universe that appeal to me. I have been a Viera fan for 10+ years since I received XII on the ps2. My character and account is dedicated to the ivalician Viera. It is not my fault that the other races do not appeal to me and should not be shunned by the community for wanting SE to uphold their end of the deal.

No. Read above. Also £5 for a Fantasia just because these races are getting almost no TLC? That’s a temporary solution to the Viera and Hrothgar issue, it doesn’t solve the actual problem.

Whenever I get this comment I just can’t help but roll my eyes. The other races, who can wear all hairstyles and hats in the game have the audacity to act like they’d be so hard done by for not having Viera hair. Why don’t you Fantasia to a Viera if that’s the case? Oh wait- you don’t want to deal with the severe limitations, right? Why are you determined for Viera to constantly be “less than” your race? The developers made this crystal clear that both Hrothgar and Viera are too unique to be chucked into the same category as everyone else. These two races will NEVER be equal to the others in terms of headgear/potentially hairstyles so they deserve compensation for the limitations, just like SE originally said would happen. Deal with the divide and move on - maybe you’ll now think twice before begging SE for a new race when it’s obviously more work than they can handle. Let’s focus on what races we have now before requesting them to bring in new ones.

I know there will be people in the comment section who will attempt to essentially belittle my thread, so, I’ll just say this; you can admit when SE did a bad thing, it doesn’t make them a terrible company at all. It’s still my favourite gaming company & I’ve adored the FF franchise since I was a child and furthermore, we can’t deny their talent in both story telling and their passion for the game… but I will put my hands up and just say that this is not okay. The soul purpose of me creating my forum account was to bring fourth my ideas to the community and fight to make the Viera more appealing, but at this rate it’s looking bleak - I just want to be heard. This will be my final forum thread that I have started. I am sorry if people are tired of me posting the same thing.

But yes. Let me change my hairstyle. Viera and Hrothgar aren't as unique as they thought because you'll run into your twin. Now, every race meets their twin, all the time, but you meet your entire family as a viera and hrothgar all the time xD

Also, as a bit of a side note, thank you for providing the most common not-so-helpful replies. I hate seeing these when we’re dealing with a video game. Something like “LUL, you knew this going in” - well, no we didn’t. We were told “more slowly than other races” not “you will forever have to dye your mane even on your class armor because the clipping is so bad, even the Gunbreaker trainer’s mane sticks out.” That’s not a “you’re whiny” thing - that’s just poor quality control.

I want them to have new racial specific hairs. Since they can't wear like 98% of hats without the use of modding, they should absolutely have more unique hairstyles to them. the same for hrothgar. its okay if they have a few of the "basic hairs" but they do need and deserve special hairstyles just for them. bc imo anything that isnt mog station or specifically female, everything is some sort of ugly mullet, rpg hero hair, or anime hair. i wouldnt want viera /hrothgar to have those uninspired hairs.

I would love to be able to equip hats. That they make it so Vieras can't equip reward hats from achievements make me so mad. It is literally nothing. And I also can't understand people who says that i should just use the mod to get wear hats but that is not a solution. I've waited along side you and i am getting more and more disappointed by every update where they say nothing about Viera or Hrothgar. Not even and explanation of why they can't or why it's taking so long. They are normally so clear about things like that but it's like they are just ignoring Viera and Hrothgars. Especially Hrothgars.

I think we'll be getting all the hair but headgear doubt it. They've pretty much said as much but I suppose that could change. I sincerely hope we'll see more hair styles for 6.1. Also any new styles released had better include Viera now.

I would love to go back to Viera, but I won't until they get some more work. Maybe once the female Hrothgar are completed, they'll go back and work on them all at once. I dunno, trying for optimism here.
