Would be a super cruel twist if they just did it for their previews. Surely, they know better.

Yep, and it's quite stereotypical of them to shadow drop something like this after a small preview in a liveletter. They did the same thing with many Viera hair updates as well as the Hrothgar "earpocalypse" fix last year. These updates don't get dedicated spotlights in liveletters themselves, but a picture speaks a thousand words! In any case this is wonderful news for all Hroth players. It was also my most requested feature: making all of the hairstyles actually made for Hrothgar usable by all Hrothgar.

Not to get everybody's hope up for nothing, but I believe they gave a sneak peak of Hrothgar hairstyles being unlocked across faces (or at least more being made universally available across the 4 faces.) They previewed a face 3 Hrothgar with the shoulder-length hairstyle currently locked to face 2. You can see the dramatically curled, upward tilted ears that are unique to face 3. Picture courtesy of a Hrothgar player on Twitter. Grain of salt until the patch of course but I'm optimistic.

This would be the best news in this Live Letter for me! I wanted Hrothgar hairstyles to be unlocked ever since SHB, even more, when I saw the NPCs in Bozja!

Those 2 images do depict a face 3 (Coeurl) hrothgar, their ears give them away. I think that the first picture is having a face 2 hair and the second might have either face 1 or... it might be a face 4 hair (the Khimari hair).

If this is true, which I hope it is, then THANK YOU SE! Finally! This is the best news we could have gotten for the males! If it isn't....then consider my heart broken.

before anyone gets super thrilled about hrothgar FINALLY FOR GODS SAKE getting an update to something we should have had...since the launch for shadowbringers, frankly, lets recall some facts.
1) 6.1. An absolute smack in the face for no good reason. It took til 6.2 to fix something with outcry against such a fiasco from pretty much everybody.
2). When 6.2 dropt, hrothgar ONLY got ears back. No hair viera got in 6.1. So as it stands Hrothgar are two patches behind a race that dropt into the game at the exact same time as them. And for no good reason!
3) Gangos npc hrothgar have had this since 5.25. Why did it take til nearly 4 years (4 years in july!) to get a key racial feature fixed? Why didnt they give us this in 5.25 or even 5.3?
4) Because giving hrothgar things that every other race has access too take such monumental mountain-moving effort, this likely, incredibly likely, means hrothgar will now be THREE patches behind viera, meaning we will not get 6.2 hairs, much less 6.3 updates, which include the much beloved Styled For Hire hair. Which is absolutely soulcrushing for me, as that would be my go-to hair until we finally get Windcaller.
I do not mean to be a negative nancy/debby downer but...keep those expectations grave-level peeps.

The upside here inspite of all this is with hrothgar (maybe) FINALLY having all their base hair accessible, this means they absolutely have 0 excuse to not make behatted models for hrothgar and viera, and we very well oughta get SOME real, nice, stylish hats in 6.5, 7.0 at the latest.

Hrothgar as a whole does deserve to be given more love. Though from what I have noticed lately, the devs noted that players care about them. Not only the new deep dungeon hairstyle looks good on us while on other races is...uh., anyway, there have been more Hrothgar appearances in both the art and promotional videos. Like the one from today which I think had 6 in the background, and the last one which had one as a main focus as the crafter.

I do hope we would get the racial hairs + what Viera got in the last patch. And after the hair problem gets resolved we would see some improvements in the hat department too. Or do I need to invoke the Mighty Vierathgar lord of hats and hair? I think the devs have heard us and are working the race updates into the patches until Hrothgar and Viera get on par with everyone else, by which point Viera might become the most populated race in Eorzea, let's be honest here, there are a lot of them even with the curse of vanishing placed upon their head. There is only a matter of time.
We should have gotten access to our racial hair in 5.3. But we didn't and what's done is done, we have a chance now, so as small a chance of this actually being real, it would be huge. I can finally edit my face 3 retainer to have the Runar hairstyle!

Also if we do get the hairs unlocked for 6.4, then this would bode very well for the Female Hrothgar fans, since that would be a sign that we would be able to have access to all of our hairstyles as well with their release!

If I may ask what does holding onto this resentment do for you exactly? If this is your reaction to something very positive being implemented I don't think there is any action the devs can make that will cause you to budge off your "stay mad" hill. This is a good thing. It is yet another move in the right direction. People should be happy. It does you absolutely no harm to let them be happy, trust me.

this is actually kinda bittersweet lmao.
We'll never kniw which hairs were gonna be associated with which femgar face unless they decide the first like...8 femgar you meet as npcs in some 7.0 area have 2 styles per facetype.
Im not counting those "hairstyles" that are just "oh its missing a braid or it has more bangs" which was the lamest 6.1 update besides no ears tbh

What reason was there to not let hrothgar have all of absolutely nothing on endwalkers launch? why did it take 4 months for them to haphazardly plop viera 6.0 wigs on hrothgars scalps if they were just gonna lob off our ears.
Frankly we should be getting 6.2, 6.3, AND the hair viera are getting this patch IN ADDITION TO our racial hairs not being facelocked, theres no reason to keep 1 race this far behind for the love of pete.
Yes I do want 18 new styles in 1 patch because its so so likely viera will end EW with the style so many hrothgar want (windcaller) and we wont see that till....maybe 7.0?
I just want all things being equal is all.
We should of course be happy we finally get this! But nobody better be "grateful" because um...in order to use these styles, a hrothgar player had to spend money. To buy fantasia. And change their face. For 4 years. And we're just getting this NOW.
Like, thank god, finally, someone on the team realized hrothgar cant use its racelocked styles for no good reason.
But like...come on man. Dont leave us evem further behind viera its tragic being multiple patches behind a race thats been here as long as you have.
I guess we'll see in patch notes if hroth are wearing Great Lengths or Modern Legend, both viera 6.2 styles.

What reason was there to not let hrothgar have all of absolutely nothing on endwalkers launch? why did it take 4 months for them to haphazardly plop viera 6.0 wigs on hrothgars scalps if they were just gonna lob off our ears.

I've posted almost exclusively in this thread specifically for Viera/Hrothgar updates and for as long as that has been happening you've been here to "remind" people how angry they should be any time there is a hint of positive news. This is the complaint thread. What are we supposed to do when the complaints are addressed? Stay angry? Wat? Well, not everybody wants to remain angry. Critical, sure, but this resentment you are feeling for being essentially jealous of the speed of Viera updates because of some status quo of equal unfairness you feel the two races should share is not just criticism. It's anger, envy and FOMO.
