I still believe the hunchback would be better if it was...you know, demonstrated more. Like if /doze while on a bed had them curl up like a cat or something. You know, give explanation for why they have the hunchback, show why they should have it.to be honest, i love bestial races. The further from human, the better for me. But in FFXIV we don't have the option of being anything but a human with animal ears.
Even though the hrothgar is the only option, the fact that he has feet, is hunchbacked, and his emotes demonstrate that they are silly and docile creatures, makes me stay away from the race. I chose Viera for the lore of them being recluses, a more tribal/savage population...
These days I saw on twitter an art of an au'ra with dragon paws. It made me so much wish they were like that.
WoW is a lot more furry than FFXIV, and yet I've seen some brilliant minds argue online that Tauren and Worgen are not furries because they are based on "mythological creatures", lol.
The biggest problem FFXIV had for me in terms of race, is that every race before Hrothgar was just Humans with added features. Tall human, small human, human with pointy ears, human with cat/bunny ears, bulky human, and so on. I consider Hrothgar the only race to break that mold, but everything in the game is so standardized, they couldn't implement it properly without leveling some critical features out.
FFXIV's competitors really blow the game out of the water in terms of implementing anthro/bestial races.
really ffxiv races before hrothgar/viera was just "lalafels and the rest square doesn't care about" but now that hroths/viera exist those other races forget what it's like to be, well, forgotten about now that they have their own fellow players to look down upon.
I believe that all races that have more "beastly" traits are getting the "money saving" treatment. Of course, Vieras and Hrothgars are the most apparent, but now even the Miqo'tes are having their ears cropped off their hats.
That nonsense drives me insane....
If FFXIV had playabe Minotaur and Werewolf characters it would be called a Furry game. WoW has Minotaurs, Werewolves, Pandas, Fennec Foxes and now Were-Dragons, and its still not a furry game.
FFXIV has Nekos, Bunny People, and now a BiPedal Lion Race...and WE get called the Furry game.
Makes no sense.
Most people complaining about furries have no idea what a furry even is or likes. Nothing new. That nonsense drives me insane....

The difference is that FFXIV is an oriental game where everyone has a cute, jovial and anime face. WoW is more cartoonish, where not everyone will have a cute face. Well, that was before pandas. That nonsense drives me insane....

Like it or not, this is why most people say FFXIV is a furry game.
Not really, in terms of furry WoW is the ultimate MMO since day one due too many reasons (most I can't post here LOL), just a lot of people are in copium, fakes ignorance or have fear to come out as a furry due the community being well... the WoW community.
That said, FFXIV is way less furry, since most races are nekomimi but they still counts as furries (scalies in case of the Au'ras) even if just a 1-2 out of 10 of the furry scale LOL
Thats a really dumb reason, art style doesn't dictate Furryism.
AnimeFace = Furry. Cartoonish/None AnimeFace =/= Furry
Thats pure nonsense. There is more BiPedal Animal Races in WoW then FFXIV, both in PC and NPCs.
The WoW community is living in denial
((Btw, not aimed at you, just the argument))
