Well, the media tour is here and it doesn't look good for Viera being able to wear AF gear headgear again.
I don't know what it is with SE and designing gear expansion after expansion that 2 races cannot use. You'd think after 2 expansions of people requesting it, they would get the feedback.

They got it. They just don't want to dedicate the resources. They could hire freelance professionals via contract and have it done in a few weeks.

Not trying to hunt down every interview across every content creator (hoping someone else who already has will make a summary at some point, or at least a list of what questions got asked by who)

but not seeing anything regarding any update regarding Viera or Hrothgar hats. So we're still at the point where the most information we've gotten in the past... what, 3 years? is that one answer from an impromptu Q&A where Yoshi-P said they're "working on adjusting the system" for it.

Viper and new reaper hood will work like EW reaper hood and just clip. Scholar hat kind of sits off to the side (seems to be a stylistic choice on all races). Circlet hats will work as usual.

Actual hats will not work.


Have not found any images of Hrothguys, but I'm guessing they're screwed too.

Hrothgals hats is also a mystery still. I've been looking and found nothing. They don't have the ear problems of Viera or the posture problems of Hrothguys. But that doesn't mean hats will work, devs could still just be lazy and just not do them at all (which is what I expect).

They've been "working on it" for like 6 years at this point and keep making gear that viera can't use. You'd think if they're working on it they wouldn't make such a heavy backlog for when they eventually decide to allow it.
Judging from their attitude recently it seems they are stalling and trying to placate viera players instead of giving any answer yes or no and risk getting a negative reaction from the community.

Like they aren't getting a negative reaction now?

I understand that there's an actual coding limitation at play (something about how ear fuzz interacts with the hair removal on some hats by default iirc), but it's also something that they need to have at least started to work around by now. It's been two full expansions with no signs of even getting full access to job hats in sight.

Nah, after I finish 7.0 I'm out to play GW2's expansion that comes out in august.

My goodness, it is just 1 set given to us every expansion to sell it to us!!!! And they can't even give us that? They can't work on it for a few more moments?
Especially with some gear not looking complete without the hat, like Astro, Red Mage and Bard!

I was already disappointed with the Astro changes, this just makes me not want to touch it. I mean what's the point?

Seriously though, I've been tired of "looking forward to it" since I realized I can't wear the Welkin hat back when viera was first added to the game and fast forward to 2024 there's still no update several years later... It's also beyond annoying at this point that they STILL keep making NEW headgear viera/hroth can't wear. It truly can't be that difficult to fix so we could actually glamour properly...

Havent seen a single thing indicating that 7.0 will bring hats to the forgotten races. And funnily enough, there are so many tiaras and eyepatches in the AF gear that there has obviously been some thought of "workaround" in the question. But I said it a long time ago that if they didnt make hats available to viera by 7.0 I would switch off viera.... and after watching several videos today where gear was shown to not work on vieras, AND the entire lipfiasco that hit viera face four really hard, I have decided to jump to my miqo alt. Granted, she will lose her ears in certain hats, but at least the headgear will be visible.

I won't change, cuz baby boy, but I really wish at least the AF gear would work. I know, PCT doesn't look like fits with Hrothgars, but I still wanna use the hat!!
