this would make sense sure, I am just wondering what the incentive to run content that drop things we cant use will be for us then? Or if the "modern aesthetics" that drop would just be switched to a racespecific hairstyle.I believe it's because SE wanted to bring in a race like no other but underestimated how much work was required. The Viera honestly can't be compared to other races considering they've had numerous appearances throughout the FF franchise - they have their own distinctive style and identity, which is why we were supposed to get more exclusive hairstyles in time. SE can't take back the race exclusive-hair they gave us and at this point I don't think we'll ever have hats due to our puffy hair - they should just finish what they started and go with their original plan... It's not worth them trying to make us just like the other races because Viera/Hrothgar will never be equal to the others.
I think that sounds very appealing.. Low-key obsessed with that idea. I know people are hyped for Modern Aesthetics: Greater Lengths but looking at the 6 hairstyles they gave us in EW and how rushed they look.. I wouldn't mind if Greater Lengths turned into this race specific hairstyle.

thing is I would love the gyr abhania plait or something similar. I actually love the male hairstyle with the braids on the side. And I would like some more customization on the hairstyles we do have. I would like to be able to remove the flowers for instance. I really dislike glamming up my viera all dark and mysterius but oh btw I have a soft side just look at my flowers...... >.<I think that sounds very appealing.. Low-key obsessed with that idea. what I expect?
nothing
Not even one hairstyle per patch.

For the Au Ra vs. the new racesAhhh, so the hair may be* more of the culprit! I guess my question would then be why did SE feel the need to design the hairstyles in such a way that would make them incompatible with the majority of headgear? Why was this not an issue with Au Ra? Is it more that they just didn't have/continually don't have enough dev time to make them work? Was going down the path of "your hair won't work with most hats" really the best they could offer? And poor Hroth with the fantasia requirement! Oof. Just sooo many questions.
Au Ra horns are in the same place as ears. Miqote ears are non customizable and baked into their hairstyles. All other og races have their ears in a standard place. You don't have to do much to resize helmet from A to B to C if the features are approx. in the same place. Viera are unique in that their ears are in a nonstandard place and are customizable. Hrothgar heads are nonstandard even just amongst their 4 heads.
If I had to guess why the devs decided to simply opt out of all hats in the concept stages, I'd say its likely due to planned corner cutting to get very different races complete in the time it would usually take to make a shared set. Au Ra m/f designs complement one another and even share assets/features. They didn't need to reinvent the wheel after finishing one and starting the next.
I don't even care about the hat thing anymore...I just want the same number of hair options as the other races. Viera and Hrothgar got seriously screwed in the customization department.

I'm glad this thread exists. The situation is unacceptable.
They should have originally just waited and not release both races in 5.0, basically now they're just adding more demand which puts their development cycle in jeopardy.
Why adding unique hairstyles for female Vieras is difficult though; I honestly don't buy into that. They've grown too complacent with this game in a lot of areas, no surprise one of the races suffers under that design philosophy.

If it's mainly the ears, and this is probably an unpopular opinion, but maybe they shouldn't have been customizable then. I'd much rather have more hairs, and headgear, than deal with this as a viera. Like, it's nice that it is customizable, but not at this cost, but, then again, I do also hold the opinion that viera/hrothgar are a very low priority, so who even knows even then if they would have added things. For the Au Ra vs. the new races

Never going to happen.

The problem with ears and hats are kinda twofold: firstly, the ears are customizable, yes, but beyond that is also the size/placement/shape of rabbit ears in general. Compared to Miqote, Viera ears are more centered on the head and point upwards rather than outwards. Even if Viera ears were a fixed size/shape I think they'd still be weird to adjust around in 3D for a lot of hats just inherently due to rabbit ears being big and straight. If it's mainly the ears, and this is probably an unpopular opinion, but maybe they shouldn't have been customizable then. Now for hairstyles, though, thats kinda where SE loses me. Not being able to wear hats because of the missing hat hair model + big ol ears ears I begrudgingly understand as someone who has worked with 3D programs...but not having access to hairstyles in general? The only thing I can think of is that they didn't want Hrothgar to feel worse. I usually dislike bring up mods because they don't need to necessarily work out like official things do, but hairstyles are not very hard to adjust to make Viera compatible, even with customizable ears. The 2B bob is kinda the perfect proof- our ears clip right through the headband as the model wasn't significantly changed past scaling to fit our head.

The answer for this, theorized by people who must have been modding the game, is that this instance of headgear works because it doesn't show any hair - at all.
And to this, is pointed that it's actually a hair problem, as in... Viera, both male and female, have no "hat friendly" versions of their exclusive hairstyles.
That's no excuse, though... They only have 9 exclusive styles each gender, so is not like it's a ton of work. Given that some hat friendly variations are made by simply omitting parts of its structure.
Bear in mind that there's also a third issue of some "tall" headgear clipping horribly with Viera ears displayed. But those would be the exceptions, I suppose.
yes, this is essentially it
how it works is there are 2 hairstyle models. what you see normally or when you wear certain hats (basically stuff that completely obscures your hair, glasses, sits ontop of your head like the bonewicca caster helmet, think stuff like that), and one for use with hats. viera lack the latter of those 2.
