Having done both of FF14's deep dungeons Palace of the Dead and Heaven-on-High, as well as WoW's first (And currently only) deep dungeon Torghast, there are some things I would do differently. First, no more invisible traps. PotD and HoH have invisible traps such as mines that take off like 4/5 of your health, and the traps are completely invisible unless you use a pomander of sight. In Torghast on the other hand, all traps are either clearly visible, or have some sort of indicator that careful players can watch for. For example, giant hidden swinging axes will always have a gouge mark in the floor that you can look out for. Another thing I like about Torghast is it will scale for the number of players in your group, so if you go in solo, it will be properly scaled for 1 player.

I feel like I heard somewhere they are planning for a new deep dungeon. If they do though, I hope they expand on it. It's pretty bare bones and gets old kinda fast. Some sort of progression system (beyond aether pools) would be cool.

Anyway, they are gonna likely add some sort of content for leveling.

It would be nice, I'd like to think the reason why they've been so secretive aside from Raid 8/24man and Sanctuary is because revealing any other artwork/name for future content would completely spoil the direction of the story. AKA we don't have the name of the Relic location yet, potential Deep Dungeon or even the potential DOL/DOH restoration content. Those 3 things have a very high chance of being tied to spoilers so it will be interesting to see what the next LL reveals about the 6.1 patch cycle.

Relic location is highly likely to deal with Dalmasca if you have played through the Bozja story. Dalmasca is still in a very.. odd state of affairs since they liberated themselves from what I have heard. It may not all be sun and roses.

As far as I'm aware, we won't be likely to see a continuation on the Dalmascan/Bozjan/FFT-inspired areas. The Bozjan storyline had poor reception over in Japan, I believe the FFT director they brought on for the Ivalice and Bozja stuff mentioned as much about the situation over on twitter.

I'd really like to see it continued, as other than a few parts, I enjoyed the style of storytelling in the Ivalice and Bozjan questlines... but unfortunately, not enough shared the sentiment.

That's really too bad, because I enjoyed it a lot. It reminded me of FFX and FXII combined into one style narrative. It was really cool for the time.

Here's the thread from Matsuno about it. Went and found it just so I wasn't misstating anything.

Yeah, it is unfortunate. Other than some parts of it (mainly revolving around how Mikoto was utilized), I really enjoyed the lore and storytelling of the Ivalice and Bozja questlines. Matsuno is a good writer, and he genuinely seems disappointed in how things turned out. I believe some of the issues people had with the outside writers in ShB lead to their decision for original storylines for the raids in EW.

Edit: Adding the reddit thread about it just for posterity.

To avoid getting off topic, though: While I'm personally not really a fan of the lower floor Deep Dungeon experience that we tend to get, I do very much enjoy the difficult light party aspects that the higher floors introduce. I didn't particularly dislike Bozja for leveling (and honestly find it slightly more exciting than the DD leveling grind), but having both options around would be nice. Just kind of hope the next installment's story is a bit less... well. Short and bad, as I don't recall being particularly wow'd by HoH's story compared to enjoying most of Palace's.

    We're getting one.
It was said EW was getting a Deep Dungeon and a Hildibrand Questline.

They didnt do it in ShB because of Burnout, so they took a break from it, and saved it for the next Expansion.

That's awesome. Small party and solo content is much more interesting than fate farming in a different map.

I don't recall there being any hints towards a deep dungeon in the MSQ. Maybe it could be a storage in Labyrinthos?

Yes definitely deep dungeon as opposed to something like Bozja. The first couple days I spent in that zone actually made me take a break from the game it was such a miserable experience.
