Especially those players who are using false addresses because Square Enix doesn't allow addresses in your country to register, so you used a false address.

I don't think Square Enix will put out such a notice if they're not getting ready to do something about it. Probably a massive ban wave coming. I would hold off resubbing if your subscription is about to expire.

Square Enix isn't one to care about your circumstances. They probably won't be refunding your sub because you violated their ToS in the first place, and because your information is false anyways, even if you have used a credit card.

Why are they doing this after literally 8 years of service? Probably due to the congestion, so the first class players (i.e. players residing in countries where they officially provide the service) can get in. They have too many players now anyways.

In fact I would think it's a good idea to cancel recurring subs anyways just in case. Such is the realities of dealing with a Japanese company.

Most amusing about confirming my own info, my birthday is somehow wrong.

It has not changed ever and there it resides on my ID yet I have been incapable of viewing my account information from the day I first created the account. I also never received birthday email which makes one doth wonder, could their system possibly have borked and not stored my birthday? Square would never suffer from programming or database issues that might catch innocents in their demand for user info. Nooooo never!

It's probably this, the announcement is weird since the only thing it lets you update is your address. If you have a wrong birthday/gender/name you can't do much about it. It sounds like they just want people to put the right address and know what information is put on their account.

I think it's a little known fact that the game is region locked, so you need to use a US card to buy the US account and EU -> EU account. I have 2 accounts for both regions and yes buying the expansions are a pain for that reason lol.

Btw for the topic: SE is just telling you to review your account and confirm that it's correct before going any further. Yeah they can find out if you aren't the real account holder. I mean I just, for the heck of it, logged into both of my SE accounts. There's no "CONFIRM OR GET BANT" button.

I recall a while back in FFXI there was mass account thefts and SE reset all passwords en masse or something to that affect. Everyone had to change their passwords. I wanna say this is what lead to the creation of the security token system we have today but my memory is a foggy there.
