Minion drop rates are horrible

All these people trying to get Starbirds when the true – and far cuter – Shoebill-equivalent is the Adventurous Ambystoma, which you can get off the marketboard (as the axolotl eft) cheap. I've had it for ages just because it was cute, and I bought one for my alt the other day for all of 200 gil.

Rare drops are rare for a reason, and the minions are supposed to be just that. Want to get one faster? Go to the market board. The rest of us will continue to farm and post them at exorbitant prices so that the lazy (or just people that don't have enough time on their hands, which is totally understandable in today's world) can keep filling our coffers with gil.

IMO, the drop rates should be significantly boosted for the 87, 89, and 90 MSQ dungeon minions, by virtue of their being untradeable.

IMO drop rates are "fine" but dungeons need a "bad luck charm", like raids and EX.
Some people run dungeons dozens/hundreds of time for a minion, some for a specific gear piece.
That's ridiculous.

As someone who ran the Aery 70+ times for a single weapon (and also didn't see the minion drop a single time) I agree with this.

I believe your story is something that happened long time ago, but I’m genuinely curious how did it took 70+ times for you when Aery being a leveling dungeon means it will guarantee one drop equippable to your chosen job? So long as the player do not trash away their loots they will eventually get their loot within 10 runs (or 11 if it’s pre EW era).

I've literally run the dungeon in DF since Endwalker dropped and have yet to even SEE it as a drop option, let alone be able to roll on it.

It's been 14 months SE.

Hell there's some dungeons I've run Unsynced for relic grinds over 200 times and have never seen THEIR minions.

Enough is Enough.

Dec 2023 update: I stopped counting the DF instances after 600-ish, but it's now 2 years and no Starbird as a loot option in sight. REALLY, SE? REALLY?

I’ve been playing since ARR 2.0 and I don’t believe guaranteed drops were a thing in the beginning. I can’t remember when they added guaranteed drops, so they most likely are referring to when this wasn’t a thing. I read someone mentioned it happened during Stormblood, but I can’t confirm that, but if that’s the case, then their 70+ run might’ve happened during Heavensward when The Aery dungeon was introduced.
