No sound/ Game Crashing on Exit after last patch (DX 11)

First:

my game had no sound when launching. Even re-installing did not work. I fixed the sound issues by deleting my d9d11.dll and downloading/installing a new one my friend sent to me from their ffxiv folder. my game was still crashing on exit at this point.

Second:

my game goes to a black screen and freezes / hangs after clicking "exit game" or closing the game. etc. I have found no fix for this... and its terribly annoying because it freezes my desktop.

I have 16 gb RAM, nvidia 1080 gtx, i7 intel cpu.

This issue only started happening after the very last patch where embody sound was introduced.

edit: yes i have tried to verify integrity of game files / redownload / reinstall etc. nothing has fixed.
