Good day Dear FFXIV Support and users,
I have had random crashes Happening to me about 2-3 weeks ago. My game has been perfectly fine and Functional until i have tried to do the Ruby Doomsday questline, getting consistent DirectX 1100002 crashes at specific points. THIS however is not my main issue.

Ever since fixing those Consistent crashes. I have been plagued with random "you have encountered an error, exitign FFXIV" and Crashes to desktop without an error. AND a instant crash on login when usign directx 11. so im currently using direct x 9 Theses Crashes have Honestly made thsi game Unplayable for me as they are most likely when in an instance.

Before these crashes started i have changed nothign abotu my PC. NOTHING.

Which if you actually everything i CAN do. outside of taking my rig apart and putting it back together. which i shouldn't need to do.

SINCE Only FFXIV is the only problem among my 100s of steam games

Please help me. I really wanan play endwalker. but with these crashes i barely have a mind to even finish shadowbringers.

Just as a small recap. the game worked fine when EW came out. and its pre release etc etc. It specifically went wild once i did Sidequest 5.3 content and fixed said side quest issues. And fully restarted everything


Reinstalled the game,
reinstalled my GPU drivers.
used DISM and SFC scannow
Change every setting in teh game including fullscreen and windowed transitioning
Reinstalled the game again.

Reinstalled my entire OS and formatted all my disks.
Installed the game.
Installed new GPU drivers.
Installed a older GPU driver that worked for a different user
Change every setting in teh game including fullscreen and windowed transitioning
Reinstalled the game again.

Closed every overlay (Discord,Steam,Xbox gamesbar, radeon)
Uninstalled and reinstalled, Directx9 11 12, Net visual C++ 20?? to 2022, Java

I also disabled EVERY security feature windows ahs that i coudl disable throught eh security menu to see fi that helped
ANd ran a MEMtest86
And a registry Cleaner, which are unneccesary since tehy usually are adware or bloatware, doign features that Windows does itself.

I even changed every bios option once. tested the game. and then fully reset and updated my bios again. including a CMOS battery reset.

tried doing all this but in 32bit instead
i even reset all my system data.
And Change every setting in teh game including fullscreen and windowed transitioning again
AND as a last ditch effort i tried to use Vulkan via DXVK before and after the restart and everythign else was done

AND tried playing the game in directx 9 mode which WHile i dont get a crash to desktop on the main menu. I DO crash randomly mid game.

I have the login errors. It happens consistently at each launch, no matter what troubleshooting method I take. I've come to the conclusion it's an issue on FFXIV side, since the game itself ran perfectly fine until 6.01.

A weird thing I've noticed about the login error, however... The game is still playable, even with the error active. You should be able to push down into a corner and still play, BUT, there is zero sound.

Ive had an error happen like that once. and i crash the instant i change locations/ load into new zones twice. only to crash normally then. The game jsut seems to run less unstable for people with these errors if its directx 9

There is definitly something they changed/messed up at 6.x and thus we see a lot more errors lately... especially random ones.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Could you try using a registry cleaner such as CC cleaner? It will run and remove files that may have been left behind by installation another activity on the PC. To so, please remove the game and then restart the PC. Run the registry cleaner and then restart the computer. Once the computer has been reset please reinstall the game again. After reinstalling the game, please restart the PC once more. Once the PC has been reset, please launch the game.

Hello. i wanted to give an update on this. I have been able to fix both my old 1100002 Directx Crash and my current random crashes.

About the directx1100002 crash. I would recommend using Either Directx9 or getting DXVK which is just a translater for Vulkan.
I do not know if this is white listed for the game. If nto. Please tell em and i will stop using it and search for other methods of fixing this issue instead (regarding both X9 and DXVK since x9 is technically no longer supported)

For my random crashes. Surprisingly. the problem was my hardrives
I fixed it by installing on a Sata connected HDD instead of my external SDD.
if the problem was just it beign on a SSD or beign on a USB connection i do not know. But i hope that this will help when trying to fix this for others.
