Not going to lie isn't moding just one of the many benefits if PC gaming? When did it become so vilified? I mean competitive integrity is a stance I can see but it is not like FFXIV has prize pools going. So for the most part it is for personal fulfillment, if someone wants to cheapen that experience so be it. If they want to lie about it and try to get into public eye if they do not have the ability to back up their lies they will be found out rather quickly. If they do it just to flex how does that hurt anyone really?

So what exactly is the problem.

Modding is fine in a single player game because it doesn't matter if the mod gives one player an advantage over other players they'll never interact with.

Modding is not fine in a multiplayer game because it creates advantage only for those who have access to the mod. It removes fairness from the multiplayer environment.

Strange how people can't understand how that's a problem. You might as well argue that if mods are okay, then all forms of cheating are okay because that's what cheating is all about - getting an advantage that others don't have.

Not really strange. A large proportion of people in the world only think of themselves and what they get out of something. Other people rarely cross their minds.

You see this in every part of life, from choosing who they vote for, to cutting into lines, to tailgating and suffering road rage.
