Is master book 9 MSQ gated?

I am near the end of Stormblood, and have a full set of 90 crafters. I was able to get books 1-8 before finishing HW, but it seems book 9 might be gated? That or I am doing something wrong.

Patch notes only say 6.x is needed, they don't list any quest pre-requisites, yet this is what I see...




So far I have checked the Scrip exchange in Grid, Mor Dhonuts, and Rhalgr's Reach, all end at book 8.

Does anyone have any idea what the unlock is? Shadowbringers, or do I need to rush to Endwalker to make anything with level 90.

The Book 9s are indeed gated behind MSQ of Endwalker. I believe you need to unlock Radz-at-Han zone to unlock those books. Once unlocked, they will show up on ALL Scrip Exchange NPCs including the ones in big cities, Idylshire, Mor Dhonuts, Rhalgr's etc.

Radz-at-Han is where you unlock purple scrips, grade 9/10 materia, and gathering lore books. I think that's right after the level 81 MSQ dungeon, and wouldn't be surprised if master books unlock at the same time.

Thanks. Sad they didn't list that in the patch notes.
Also sad that this is the first gated book.

But it is what it is. No 90 gear for me for a few years to come. heh.
