Where is all the content?

Oh, I agree, the game has some issues I'd like to see addressed (glamour, having to close windows to switch crafting classes, others)... but the formula they've been following has resulted in an MMO that continues to grow, with no signs of stopping. Doesn't mean they shouldn't try new things ever, but you not liking how things are done doesn't = problem. No reason to play as content releases? What? Tell that to the many people that stay subbed because there's still tons of things they haven't done yet/the people who resub just for the new content... You partly acknowledged it, but being a game where you don't feel obligated to burn yourself out to stay relevant has only been in the games' favor, not a detriment.

EDIT: I (and clearly, many others) enjoy doing content when it's still fresh and new to everyone. We're all making the same dumb mistakes, we're discovering things at the same time. The first week of a patch is always my favorite because everyone is on equal footing, and nothing has been spoiled yet.

The MMO market is crap right now. That doesn't mean this game's design and direction is the sole reason for it's growth.

It hasn't been great for years, but what is your point? That this is the least crappy of them all? Not even remotely accurate, and FFXIV is clearly doing something right, because other MMOs that have come and gone (and there have been A LOT, lets not pretend here) and crashed and burned for multiple reasons... yet this one keeps going.

EDIT for your edit: Except it clearly is the reason. The WoW exodus only affected things this year. FFXIV has had large increases for every expansion and its been consistent, it's just this year that has been an outlier which no one could have planned for. It was a perfect storm.

What is disingenous? What part isn't true? The MMO market has been crap for years, so suggesting this games rise is solely based on it's merits IS disingenuous. Nice deflection though.

This isn't a fact, it's an opinion, and a non-argument. FFXIV is hardly the "lesser of all evils", and that fact that you keep pushing it as such IS disingenuous. I'm also willing to bet I've played MMOs longer than you, and experienced some of a best and worst there is to offer. This is so far from the latter, but keep wielding that edge, I guess.

It's got to be doing something right when content creators from another MMO who were visibly stressed out over that game come here and are suddenly happy and having a good time.

If it was just another pile of crap (even a least objectionable one), they wouldn't stick around. They'd be streaming other games since there are hundreds of games out there to choose from.

If you're not enjoying it, then you're not enjoying it. Everyone has different tastes. That doesn't make it a crappy game.

That's not what is said. It's a good game, that is rife with issues. But the player increase is greatly increased due to the fact there isn't many other good MMO's out there right now. I mean, the Green Bay Packers won their division, but their competition is the Vikings, Lions, and Da Bears.

You tend to, actually, yes. Also, throwing around the word "ego" when yours is one of the larger ones I've seen on this forum is a special brand of ridiculous. I'm well aware of what disingenuous means, and considering many of your posts seem like a bizzare mix of genuine belief and trolling, the word usage is correct.

My saying "FFXIV is hardly the lesser of all evils" also is hardly an opinion (or at the very least, not an isolated one), as there actually are games that are objectively worse... else they would be doing much better, or in the case of others would still exist. This. I honestly don't understand why this is so difficult to grasp for some people. Gonna bow out here, since this poster has shown time and again elsewhere there's no point trying to discuss anything with them, and I'd rather not derail things further. They just want to "win", it seems.
