Here I am, convinced by Kaurhz and Rdehlika that I actually have good reasons to love the expansion. So yeah, I side with you.

I agree with the OP, but in fairness the expansion had to be developed during the pandemic and that limited a chunk of what they were able to do (such as the music, because orchestra's require many musicians) and they have other jobs on backlog to get done than FFXIV. We also don't know what the expansion cycle will look like and how much of what things will be included in patches.
...Do you all understand that your input goes directly into the game..?
We get less dungeons per patch now because people were tired of dungeons.
People were tired of zones being big because there's little reason aside from hunts to go in the overworld.
I'm not even gonna start with jobs..
However, I wont dismiss the idea that something is amiss with this expansion. It was delayed and I just wonder what for when nothing obvious shows for it.

The story complaints are valid but are also subjective. Where one person might not enjoy the story as presented, another may enjoy it. Neither are wrong, but both are allowed to critique the points of it to their heart's content. That's what having an opinion is.
I think a lot of people lately have forgotten than critique =/= trashing. I love having debates/discussions where two opposing viewpoints can go back and forth, a lot of good ideas come out of them. What I don't like is spending time writing out a long well thought response, and then getting a reply of "Lol you're an idiot go f yourself" or more insults. That's when my sarcasm/defensive posts start.
Your complaints are pretty valid, OP. The one nitpick I'd take an opposing viewpoint on is the server ones. Just for the simple fact that we truly do not know what hardware is involved in building just one world server, let alone an entire data center. Without that knowledge we really can't say if supply shortages affecting them are truthful, or the corporate side of SE is being greedy and just not making the funds available to the team to purchase the increased in price server hardware due to the silicon shortage. Not perpetuating conspiracy theories or anything, but none of us truly know what's going on behind the scenes at SE. We just have to wait, read what they put out as responses, and see the results.
Also in regards to what was said about telling people to unsub from the content if they are unhappy. At least with my responses to various topics, and I've noticed many people take this stance as well, I've tried to post reasonable or counter-point responses and only resort to "Well then it doesn't sound like it's the game for you. If you're unhappy, why stay unhappy and keep paying for a product that doesn't satisfy you" when no suggestions or viewpoints offered seem to satiate either their anger or issues.
You can only debate so far, and can only have a discussion when at least two people are involved. It very much happens where two people are just stonewalled by the other and won't budge. (Again, not saying this is you at all. You've been pretty good and clear showing your viewpoints. Replying back and forth with someone like you OP is what I enjoy most about the forums. You actually seem to enjoy having a discussion.)

while i agree with op none of their quibbles are really content?
i thought this thread would be about end game content outside of raiding or something

I think what’s a bit funny is you labeling things that we’ve gotten past expansions as “new.”Tomestone gear is always a thing, that’s not really new. We literally didn’t get a left side gear set for the 89 dungeon meanwhile ShB had one. The level i think it’s 87 weapons are literally just the 83 dungeon weapons recolored. The 87 dungeon gear is reused and isn’t even role swapped or dyable. I believe all of the crafter and gatherer gear outside of the 90 set is all reused as well. All the weapons you’re talking about are literally the norm and…kind of what they have to include for leveling and endgame purposes. But look at things like when SB gave usprimal weapons for the new jobs. Do you see those for sage or reaper? As for the music thing, i think it’s really disgusting to see so many people trying to emotionally manipulate things with Soken’s cancer. They have other composers, let’s not be ignorant. If everything is put all on one man, then the company needs to reevaluate as that also is disgusting.Thid expansion was delayed for 6-7 months, and what is there to show for it exactly?

Just a quick point, the level 87 weapons aren't reswaps of the 83 weapons. The 83 weapons have a steam punk theme. The 87 weapons are totally different. I'm speaking of the dungeon weapons here.
The other point stands. The fact that the 89 dungeon doesn't even offer a left set of gear is sort of jarring.
It's little parts that feel left out that when you add them all up, something seems off about the amount of things EW offered.
Edit: And I will say, it's an absolute fashion tragedy that they didn't make the reused assets of the 87 gear dyable. Absolute CRIME. That look is by far and large my favorite glam appearance in the game, and it's STILL not dyable.

Yes I'm sure all their other composers were just eagerly waiting twiddling their thumbs awaiting for a task. Spare me. Of course they have other composers, and many of these composers have their own tasks and responsibilities. I find it very unlikely that the composers or anyone for that matter is sat on their desk waiting for a task whilst just collecting a pay check. There's not really much you can do when other people have their own tasks and responsibilities. Not to mention they would still be required to be enlightened on the 'setting' of the dungeon/raid/instance. Including the environment and the emotions it intends to invoke.

That’s part of the job…i would hope, as a major multi million/billion company, that they wouldn’t have one person designated for every single ost in an mmo. Then again this is the same SE who’s going to be supporting NFT’s so…yeah i guess i wouldn’t be too surprised about that.
Its the level 88 chondrite weapons. They are indeed the 83 dungeon weapons reused. I only know because the 83 sage weapons are a fashion disaster and very easily noticeable.

Updates Regarding the Addition of a New Logical Data Center and Worlds
Since July 2021, in order to accommodate the significant increase in the number of new players, we have been working towards building a new logical data center and adding new Worlds. However, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have not been able to make any additions due to suspension of semiconductor production at manufacturing factories, decrease in production quantities, as well as a shortage of raw materials. Although we are investing much more money than usual, our attempts to alleviate the ongoing congestion situation are being delayed due to the physical shortage of server equipment.
With the help of IT equipment vendors from all around the world, we are slowly beginning to receive information about delivery dates and figures. Considering the high specification requirements for FFXIV servers, along with the fact that adding a single logical data center requires hundreds of servers, we invariably need much more time, but we are starting to see some progress. In line with this, the Server and Infrastructure teams are working together to plan for new additions, and we hope to be able to provide some sort of roadmap by the end of January 2022.
We are considering adding servers to each region, especially plans for a large-scale addition in North America and Europe, and will be looking at the number of servers, infrastructure construction time, power issues, and server rack situation to see if we should do this sequentially or in one big push. Either way, the plan is to introduce a large number of additions, which we intend to carry out quickly and safely with as minimal inconvenience to our players as possible, and we will follow up regarding this matter as we progress.
Please stop acting like buying a couple racks of baseline servers is enough. Please don't smugly show you've "found" the equipment when you know nothing of the process.
we've been over this again and again that even if these WERE the right hardware and they were to order them.. try hitting those order buttons and then wait for the delivery commitment that follows. It will be months out if not outright denied because of a lack of supply. This has been the case for several IT professionals with first hand accounts of orders being delayed, cancelled, or outright rejected.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
