I can handle other peoples' opinions just fine. If I couldn't I wouldn't be here. That doesn't mean I have to agree with them. In this case I clearly don't. I view a few peoples' arguments are flawed and called them out on it. You just happened to be among them.

I'm not gatekeeping anything. That's not even good buzzword use right there. I'm viewing it as I see it. Disagree as much as you like! Won't change my mind though. I've seen it all around here. This isn't my first "debate" with you either.

Yeah, these are pretty well known criticisms at this point. My guess is that if SE can get away with doing less while raking in more profit, then why not? I don't support that by any means, I'm just saying it's probably their mindset right now.

The story in the game was never its strong point for me. I don't get why people praise it. I say this because I follow the story, read every dialogue, watch every cutscene... but that's not really why I play. That's just a bonus.

The only exciting part about this game for me is completing the challenging content and becoming better with your job. After every fight, you make mistakes. I'm someone who keeps trying fights out until I make almost no mistakes. That's what's fun for me. And in that regard, this expansion hasn't been a let down. That first Extreme trial alone had me for hours trying to figure out a good way to find the safe spot during the stage turns.

The things you complain about are definitely improvements the game could work on, but they're not necessary in order for the core of the game to function.

Also, if you enjoy the game's story, that's great. But if you think it's amazing and worthy of praise even? Stop it. Get some help. lol

There's a reason why there's a meme of critically acclaimed and having a free trial to experience it. It's so highly rated due to the story, considered the best story of not just MMO's but compared to many games in general. That's why the game gets its praise, sorry you never knew this.

Personally, I don't play the game for its story either though. I'll admit HW and ShB are good, but the thing that keeps me playing this game is the gameplay and raid content.

It's almost like people find different things worthy of praise, who would've thought.

Please, for the love of everything we hold dear, can we stop sending people to "get help" if they are passionate about something we're not? Let them have theirs fun, sheesh.

This expansion really feels to me like a rehash of pretty much everything we've had before.

I also am well aware this opinion will invoke the ire of the much lauded "community".

For example

1. Gearsets
   In this new expansion we have one set of "new" gear, which is the AF gear for each class. Everything else is re-used from either SHB or STB, some of which isn't even dyeable. Where has the effort been in this? The new crafted gear is a reuse of PVP gear which the majority of people didn't even like.
   
2. Music
   Fate bosses still have the ARR music... Why?
   
   Raid tier doesn't have a second theme.
   
   Lot's of reused music throughout the expansion, the new map "Dungeon" hasn't even changed even though it's a completely different lore based area.
   
3. Zones
   Ultima Thule is the smallest zone we have EVER had based on walkable terrain. Labyrinthos is also tiny compared to the likes of Heavenswards areas or even Stormblood. The Ruby sea? All zones in EW have at LEAST half of the area available to explore. The Mare Lamentorum was hailed as a completely new world for us to explore and yet it's as big as both areas of Uldah put together.
   
4. Voice acting
   No voice acting in raids, even though this new tier is a "completely new and original idea". Baby Elidibus has a voice in the opening scene and then nothing else? Characters within Pandaemonium are INTEGRAL to our story going forward, it's part of the reason the events of ARR happened to begin with. It's a joke that these characters are not voiced.
   
5. Server issues
   Need I say more? The excuse of covid doesn't fit when I can easily go onto a server hosting company and pay for a server to be setup to the same level as the servers which Square use in their datacenters in the EU. With almost 24 hour deployable time. This can easily be seen here and here
   
   All this while the player subscription numbers have increased by almost a million in the last 16 months seen here
