I only have 2. I don't craft much and live by the philosophy "If I don't have a need it right now then it goes up for sale." I just gather or buy stuff when I actually want to craft something, although I do know people who prefer to hold onto materials just in case.

With the amount of stuff they add every expansion, though, it would be nice if we got a free third retainer.

Here's a story for you - I know someone who had to hire additional retainers because... the max amount of gil you can hold is 999,999,999.

Your retainers can also only hold up to 999,999,999 gil.

They basically had to get another retainer so they could keep making more money.
