Coils and Alexander are like, 6-8 years old though. We should be seeing improvements not the same old stuff(or worse). Eden had some repeated ones but they were spread out fairly well.Y’all don’t remember Coils and Alexander having repeated tracks? Even Omega and Eden had some repeated ones too
Personally don’t mind it and also feel it’s par for the course. That is to say if everyone is fine with run-of-the-mill content this late in the games life cycles which is a more valid argument

I feel like brand new phase shift music in Raids has traditionally been saved for fight #8 and #12. Even when Titan (Savage) did it, it was just music lifted from Ultima (Ultimate). The exception would be Neo Exdeath, though that's more of a throwback to Final Fantasy V than anything.

I'm confused, were the savage exclusive music in eden original? I assumed they were just ripped tracks from Dissidia and The Extreme was such a sick track it deserved to be in the spotlight again.
Breaking news: Local Japanese man composes two entire expansions' worth of music while fighting cancer and playerbase somehow still complains.

Breaking news: Multimillion dollar company puts eggs into one basket. Accuses playerbase of knocking the basket over, golden goose not available for statement.
Soken is just the public face of the musical department. Attributing the entire OST to him is like saying Yoshi P single handedly makes the game.
More than tracks, it is the amount of old rehashed gear, and boring generic gear (especially healers as usual) that we're getting yet again that sucks.

To be fair, you have to think about the amount of time and work they've put into Endwalker. This was supposed to be the End of Hydaelyn and Zodiark's Story. A lot of moving pieces were made when it came to the various areas to make them feel different. I think making a divergent piece such as Close in the Distance is probably one of the harder ones since there are three renditions of it as you progress through Ultima Thule. In regards to Asphodelos, though, it was expected given how they've treated the start of certain raid tiers.
I think the exception was Eden in this regard given it was basically a remix of the old primal fights since we fought all six of them in different forms last expac. I think it wasn't until A8 in Heavensward that we started getting two pieces in a final savage boss fight from that point on too.
One thing I do think about is "How would we describe Hesperos' theme after he transforms? He doesn't refer to any particular Final Fantasy villain we've already seen, or any primal for that matter, so what would it sound like?" I think that's the challenge with creating two original pieces for an entire expac tier that's focused on just XIV itself and not referencing any other Final Fantasy in general. With the references, it was far easier to create a different rendition of their final boss themes(God Kefka, Neo Exdeath, Chaos) and we can even stretch this to Alliance Raids(Cloud of Darkness, Ultima the High Seraph).
Perhaps we can get an answer for what theme they were going for in Asphodelos in the Live Stream.
Yes they got other composers, composers who have projects of their own. But nope FF14 is FAR FAR MORE important. But they can always hire some nobody to cover sure nobody will mind.
