FFXIV is nothing more then a theme park MMO riding on nostalgia and sex appeal.

Most MMO players don't PvP. Full PvP MMOs tend to fail. The only real exception is Black Desert Online and that only gets by because it's really about upskirting your toons while standing around somewhere, then using VISA to get wins in PvP...

Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war - Ras Tafari.
I find the Frontline to be fun and I can que for it on any of my jobs over level 30. I find that's enough pvp for me by doing a few of them a week. If they added World PvP I would more than likely quit unless there was a toggle to turn it off forever. I had enough of that toxic crap while I played WoW, one of the may reason I play FF now is because of no world pvp ever. In my humble opinion no world pvp is why this game is no where near as toxic as WoW is now.
The lack of testosterone was an expression to try to make understand, like Mexican food without Chillies, salt and pepper, the game is well founded in itself, because it is final fantasy and from the point of view RPG it is the bosses, But the duel function, with PvPvE on Localized Occurrence of Random Events (To activated if you wish), The wolf lair with access to a pvp map, an arena system,.. Not necessarily a dlc with only pvp, new pve content is great, it's sure but this pvp dimension will make that, many players would do live on twitch or YT or... The tougher the competition, the more players would start to love the FINAL FANTASY epic, Who will also start the PvE. PvP To heat up and PvE to calm down, Here I just invented a new class with the gauge PVE/PVP to have full control of this caractère.Seriously with just the above improvements and a CHAOS map for example available at the wolf l'air with a new nPC that would include spriggan, louisoix, cerberus, moogle, oméga, ragnarok with a little scenario quest and so on.. For Earn pvp credits = Will become the best MMORPG. This game could be the bestFF#1
I think the more pressing question to ask would be: Why didn't you do your research before buying a 'kid's game'? FFXIV isn't a game in development/early access, it's been fleshed out years ago and they're not suddenly going to throw everything out the window and re-design a PvE-oriented game into a PvP-fest. Overworld PvP simply isn't an option given the heavy cutscene focus the game has.
There's a plethora of PvP focused games out there, many of which in various states of failure and early deaths, while FFXIV and its PvE oriented content is thriving. I think it'll do just fine without catering to the PvP crowd.
That's far from truth. There's a place for PvP in MMO's. And BDO is not even your best example of a PvP game.
That being said, if you enjoy PvP this isn't the game for you. Search for this elsewhere. You QUEUE for frontline, and it's just people AFK/spamming emotes, the players here aren't very interested in that. Doesn't help that the community is full of the "us vs them" mentality, as if enjoying PvP is some sin that makes game bad or PvE bad.
I enjoy PvP as well but not in FFXIV. Try Albion, E.V.E Online, even GW2 might be up to your alley. I think that Sword of Legends has arenas as well, might check that.
We start at the base on FF game with a story that we loved one day, for me it's 1#FFVII 2#FFX and FFXII 3#FFVIII, each his tastes is sure but added a simple layer of pvp will not hurt you, and will attract many new players who will pve with you, so the fact of not liked does not come into account if it does not bother you in any way, created several maps, several dungeons, raids, boss and simple monster takes a lot of time to develop, while creates a simple alternative content to satisfy the most beastly desires will be so productive that missing out on this dimension is just a deterrent for any new players
All MMORPG ever meant is "Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game" - that's all that means and has ever meant.
Thousands of players playing on the same shard over multiple shards: That fulfills the first requirement of Massively Multiplayer and Online.
Is a role-playing game. Fulfills the second requirement.
Whatever else people assume is necessary for a game to be an MMORPG just isn't. PvP? Not at all a requirement.
There is no requirement for an MMORPG to be competitive in any shape or form, and FFXIV has proven that by becoming the best (at the very least the most popular) MMORPG available.

Pvp changes will come later in the cycle; I think 6.1. Activity should pick up again around that time.
