It would cut a lot of waiting for CD's to expire while dummy testing.
(Also reset any DOT's and AOE effects.)

I completely agree with this. There’s probably an edge case scenario (like dummies in the open world) where this would be potentially bad, but limiting this feature to housing zones would… probably help.

yes it should
but if you ever want to reset CD's you can quickly que into an unsync duty then instantly leave and that will reset your cool downs
Striking dummies are already abused in Bozja content to cheese the duels. Allowing a player to reset all of their cooldowns in this manner would definitely lead to some sort of unintended results, although I agree that it would be very useful and allow players to actually practice their openers and what not without having to wait for up to several minutes to retry in between attempts.

Oh. Just give us a more generous SSS option. “Smack the dummy for up to 15 minutes” would be useful in a wide variety of situations, or maybe “smack the dummy for 15 minutes while moderately annoying telegraphed aoes play out that will fail you.”
Neither option should have a damage requirement, but I can see why we’d need to put a time limit on it to avoid allowing afk dancers the opportunity to gridlock the limited pads available.
I’d be perfectly fine with this being added to the gold saucer as a booth, too, Gato from Chrono Trigger style.

Also please, leave combat if you move away X metres from the dummy. Resetting 1 dummy it's fine but when you are doing AoE, resetting 4-5 is a pain, no big deal but still... It'd a QoL improvement.

thats not the dummy problem thats the Duel not checking for ongoing buffsStriking dummies are already abused in Bozja content to cheese the duels.
