    My thoughts have been provoked.

Looking at the most recent game census: https://ffxivcensus.com/ it seems we have a total worldwide population of 436,569 people who've completed the 6.0 MSQ.

If I'm correct, and each Data Center's login server has a capacity of 17,000 concurrent users, we would need 25.68 Data Centers worth of login servers to accommodate all of those players trying to log in at one time.

Let's assume that an additional 25% of that population haven't finished the 6.0 MSQ on their main character, making the total world population 545,711 active players. This would require 32.1 login servers to accommodate everyone if they queued at once.

Let's say we only have 25% of actual active players trying to log in at any one time, that's 136,427 players requiring 8 login servers, one per data center.

No wonder we experienced so much congestion over the past month!

Wow, I also didn't know that there's almost more than double the amount of American overall characters than Japanese... And even more surprised that we just eke out in active players.
