Why does this game still cater to exploiters and cheaters?

In short, I don't think SE can afford to part ways with paying customers. Whether they be legit or cheaters.

Agreed, and since this is still technically beta-stage FFXIV letting the bots/exploiters run rampant allows them to study their habits find ways to prevent their behavior and patch 2.0 ahead of time. Sure I bet we'll see them find new ways to exploit the system, but SE will have their names and know who they are they can update the client to prevent every new instance of cheating because they're not trying to find every new bot/gil-seller that's created post ban.

Crafting: lots of people botted + bot every day killing prices

Gathering: lots of people botted (like 90% of lvl 50 fishers) + bot every day killing prices

yeah, i know i worked my ass off to get my 50s

and i wouldnt say a ton of people botted gathering and crafting, and while its harder to detect it in crafting, id say 1 in every 20 or people is ee gatehring are botting it right now on my server(ive seen their bots glitching on them)

Welcome back Azury! You make some really good points. I'm pretty bothered by the exploits allowed in this game and how they always go unpunished, unlike XI..
But unfortunately I can't see SE doing much about them until 2.0, just out of fear of losing too many people.
If things aren't better by 2.0 though... bleh.. :\ I really don't want to see cheaters and exploiters get away with murder. Makes everything you do legit seem like less of an accomplishment because they can do it "better" or faster.

You really shouldn't let other people ruin your own sense of accomplishment. Who cares if they did it "better" or faster? You reached your goal and got what you wanted, that's all that should matter.

Exactly what FFXI did you play? It always took Tanaka's team years before any major action like banning ever occurred to exploits or cheaters, and half the time nothing ever happened to said players as long as they kept a low profile and stayed out of trouble.

If your referring to the Salvage Ban that took place that in itself was VERY POORLY handled, for one it was reported numerous times for OVER A YEAR that the duping was going on which Tanaka did nothing to try and stop. Then when Tanaka decided to punish those participating in the dupes, many players who didn't even use the dupe were banned just from being associated with those people in Salvage runs.

Point is Tanaka never did anything until it was way too late to try and repair the damage done. His overall lack of action led to the encouraging of bad behavior, and just enforced players overall lack of faith in him when he tried to fix it after people moved on or stopped caring about it. Now your bitching at Yoshi to fix this problem now, when he's got his plate full preparing the same game for revamp in the next 4 or 5 months just to make this game worthy of playing by the general public.

Now tell me which is more important, making this game a worthwhile enough experience to pull players back to it after it's failed initial launch, or refocus Yoshi's time to take out some exploiters/gil-sellers/botters who have little to no influence in the game at the moment any more than any other player, especially when said exploiters/gil-sellers/botters will just start over and be back in action in no time?

1. The development team really didn't consider it an exploit. Yoshi actually stated that it wasn't easy to do the BLM burn and not just anyone could do it. Also it was Golden Week and taking down the fight would not have been fair to those who were capable of beating it without BLM burn

Excuse me, I'm not sure whose post you read and thought was mine, but there was no "bitching" in anything I said.
And definitely not anything about Yoshida-san having to fix things NOW. If you read my post you will see that I don't expect any changes until 2.0.

every single time this subject is breached, just look at how many people come out of the woodwork to defend cheating and exploiting. makes me absolutely sick.

i don't get it. this is the worst community i've dealt with in any mmo (and that's saying a lot, considering how many undesirables play WoW). it's the direct opposite from how things were in FFXI, where the instant there was any *notion* of anyone cheating people grabbed up their torches and pitchforks. and most of this game's community claims to play for the quality of community, referencing FFXI's...

so where did this game's community go so terribly wrong? what happened?
