    kdone.

Thing OP and other people don't seem to grasp; Every MMO has this problem:
    - Players will always do things the easiest/quickest/most efficient way possible.
    - Some players will create bots or download bots to do tasks they don't wish to do but want profit for.
    - Some players will purchase turbo controllers or keyboards with macro programs.

Every MMO has these issues -period-

But you know! It's clearly SE's fault that turbo controllers and macro enhanced keyboards are on the market, or that it's in people's nature to do whatever it takes to get ahead of the game. They also totally botched the code on Garuda on purpose just so everyone could take advantage of it during golden week.

Yep, totally catering to cheaters and the like.

why didn't they just take garuda down the second they noticed ppl exploiting it?
Why don't they ban people who stand in the same spot fish-botting for a week straight 24/7?

Point is, they often managed to deal with bots in ffxi. so why can't they here?

    1. The development team really didn't consider it an exploit. Yoshi actually stated that it wasn't easy to do the BLM burn and not just anyone could do it. Also it was Golden Week and taking down the fight would not have been fair to those who were capable of beating it without BLM burn
    2. They get rid of people who bot that directly alters game mechanics. Also their budget is running dry since they are making an entirely new game from scratch while working on this one so they cannot afford an anti-botting task force like in FFXI.

F*cking thank you. I still can't believe even after Yoshida shared his two cents on Gardua and BLM burns people are still bitching about it.

Just like yoshi-p and the dev team didn't see a problem with people 1-shotting coblyns to level to 50 for months.
And they don't see a problem with people powerleveling even if 6 people are afk.

Thats the point i was making with this post
This game supports people who just want to spam or do what in any other game would be considered an exploit, and punishes those who want to use skill.
And then anytime someone points out the "exploits" people on the forum cry about how its fair.
I remember all the "They intended you to 1-shot coblyn" posts.

Why even have levelling or raids or endgame content? If you want everything handed to you, they might as well just let you godmode, pick your equipment, and choose your level and stats.

I can't believe you're still comparing coblyns to PLing. On average, you could only get 15-20k an hour with no competion.

Do you realize that they actually buffed coblyn HP in one of the patches?

If 1-shotting coblyns is an exploit, do you think that 1-shotting puks (after coblyn HP got buffed) is not an exploit just because you list some of those places in your guide?

Comparing that to 300k exp/hr Natalan wolf camp parties (which only requires 2-3 active players) in 1.19 onwards is ridiculous.

But the point is that you could get to 50 on coblyns without ever getting hit, faster than what it would have taken to get to 50 prior to that.

Coblyns were the best way to 50 hands down, and you could pretty well kill them in a shot. That is an exploit as it means the best way to hit 50 was to essentially just click a mob. Nothing more. No strategy, no risk of death, just click click click.

the sad part was that a bunch of people were trying to argue that it's what was intended and that it was a great system.

The point again is that since yoshi-p took over, they keep messing up game mechanics to the point where different aspects of the game become exploitable. Instead of fixing the issue or banning exploiters they either pretend the problem doesn't exist, or say "hey we know ppl are doing this exploit and we are cool with it. eventually we will fix it but until then do whatever you want"

This includes the use of bots as while SE says they are against ToS they have no force actively banning ppl for them.

Which is why the thread is suggesting the game caters to exploiters and cheaters.

They did consider that it wasn't the way Garuda should be killed, which is considering this as an exploit.

The definition of an exploit is playing a game in a way not intended by developers to earn an advantage over other players. If this was intended by DEVs, it wouldn't have been fixed.

Now are all exploit users punished? No. For Garuda SE decided not to do anything. They have almost no customers and cannot just start banning people because of their own stupid mistakes. Throw the Golden week in there, making SE unable to react quickly (besides removing the encounter temporarily, which would have upset lot of players, especially JP ones who were on holiday), and it explains their decision.

If the encounter was properly QA'd, this would have never happened, the first thing you think about when anything made by SE comes out is "Throw BLMs at it".

Data mining and reverse engineering is a form of exploit as well... You aren't playing the game the way developer intended it (i.e. finding out things by yourself rather than pulling data straight off game files). That is also punished in the EULA.

The following activities are also prohibited.
•Modifying, analysing, integrating and reverse engineering game data
    •Utility creation and distribution
•Exploiting SQUARE ENIX programming that does not run as intended to gain profit or damage other players

what is this, some kind of revisionist history?

    DIRECT QUOTES from yoshida:

    "上記についてですが、真ガルーダ討滅戦のガルーダAIのモード移行時に、
    残HP割合チェックが外れていたために発生しています。
    こちらについては、処理の修正を検討中です。
Regarding above (3min kill video) there is a remaining HP check issue in Garuda's AI and for this one we are looking into modification to fix it.

However for an end content we didn't plan it where this type of strategy is used and it's developments design flaw so we are looking into making adjustments where you can try with different class/jobs/DPS effectiveness."

    As per Reinheart's translation thread

he VERY CLEARLY points out that the blm burn strat takes advantage of an error in garuda's HP check script and that since they never planned for people to be able to kill her without dealing with aerial blast, it needs to be fixed.

when people use a strategy that takes advantage of a KNOWN BUG (which yoshi just pointed out), which isn't supposed to be possible, it is the VERY DEFINITION of exploiting.

are you daft? but no, of course you'd defend it. you guys used the exploit.

    cooooooooooooooooooool story.

Funny you post that, yet you leave out the very final part:
I obtained weapons and headdresses utilizing this method. Will I be banned for exploiting this?
This is an oversight on the developer’s part, so please do not worry about this. However, as this is not recommended, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Once again, Yoshida said no one would be punished. Get over it.

EDIT: And don't get me wrong, I'm glad the BLM burn is gone. Mostly since I'm happy I won't see scrub BLMs that think 4/5 AF makes them "good". I'm just sick of watching people cry over something that doesn't even effect them.
