Is there really content to justify it taking longer than a few days? Cuz last I checked there's like nothing there except leves and grind.the way the game and pl is right now they should pretty just make you 50 on your starting class soon as you hit the character creation screen. it honestly wouldnt make the slightest bit of difference if they did.
thats because most new players i see have a class to 50 in 3-4 days. which again relates to the above.

theres a learning curve for a start. why do you think pick up groups are commonly seen as such a joke in this game and more and more people are adding "experienced people only" in there shouts for stuff. being level 50 should indicate you have at least some competence in your job/class.

Grinding doesn't teach you to run endgame content >_> because its not designed that way. At best it teaches you how to string combos together, but any idiot can learn that within 20 mins. The problem isnt how long it takes, the problem is the lack of quality and lack of content. And by quality, I mean difficulty that would actually prepare someone for endgame content. Even mini ifrit and mini garuda require no actual strategy. It is utterly pointless to increase the exp curve unless they add meaningful content. Making it take longer just for the hell of it is just lame. There needs to be something there first to justify it, otherwise its just a time-sink and a grindfest.theres a learning curve for a start. why do you think pick up groups are commonly seen as such a joke in this game and more and more people are adding "experienced people only" in there shouts for stuff. being level 50 should indicate you have at least some competence in your job/class.
I second that, I believe getting to 50 is just an obstacle to get you to at least know your jobs moves. Learning is required in order to do anything of high difficultly, so it comes with time.Grinding doesn't teach you to run endgame content >_> because its not designed that way. On another note, even though I didn't really do it, I saw the exploit for Garuda as fun. People, including me and my LS, spend so much time at CC and AV, that it is just nice to be able to get something good for a change. How many 25 min runs without any drops can a person take?
Also, I think botting is less prominent than you think. People sit there and press enter, and anything of high quality is done specifically by hand in order to get something nice, hence the new weapons needing HQ.
I don't understand about this whole "people who come in at 2.0 will be at a huge disadvantage because people actually stayed while the game was getting on its feet," or whatever you said. I'd also say that 8 man is nice, because it actually makes people work together, thus increasing the difficulty, lesser or greater amounts will come eventually.
One last thing, I've never heard this before "but if people didn't exploit this game would suck"

I think that's part of his point though, Yoshi-p is pretty much hell bent on providing all content for end game players, perhaps things will change in 2.0 who knows.
