My XIVPad: http://xivpads.com?2031148
This game is basically in pre alpha .. beta doesn't officially start until September lol
if nothing else, it shows us who in the community has principles and who doesn't
you didn't like it, but you took advantage of it? especially after your LS made a point the first couple days to mention how YOU GUYS didn't use any BLMs? loooooooooool?Oh dont get me wrong. I didnt like the exploit, i was happy they are fixing it.
But i still stands with my sentiment, nobody got hurt for exploiting it. Its not like the game suddenly fails bc everyone has garuda weapon, nothing changes at all. Nothing.
It only hurts few people's feeling that thinks they are better than everyone else just because they takes pride in their legit kill.
while you may argue the exploit 'doesn't hurt anyone' specifically, that's actually false on two accounts.
first- it hurts the people exploiting, as if they aren't good enough to beat it normally, they likely NEED to exploit to win, and will often wait to even TRY new content until some new easy exploit is found (again- compare moogle to garuda. i can't prove this but i'd say it's patently obvious that MOST of the people exploiting garuda also exploited moogle before it, and will most certainly use any other exploit that surfaces in the future)
second, it hurts the entire community by undermining any sense of fairness and fun in competition. with everything being instanced so far, it already detracts from the competition quite a lot by making direct competition negligible. so the only competition we have now is in who does it first, fastest, best, etc. the wow community made their own raid progress/achievement tracking threads, cheating was enforced, the playing field was leveled and the community thrived. and still thrives.
exploiting destroys any semblance of what little competition we already had in this game. if we follow your 'hurts nobody' (wrong) logic to its inevitable conclusion, suddenly no one cares about anything anymore and your community is full of lazy, lethargic goons who expect everything handed to them the second it's added to the game, just so they can log in and look at themselves... because they can't be bothered to actually clear the content themselves.
because that takes work. and fuck work, right? it doesn't hurt anyone if i don't want to work for anything, right?
i guess if you play this game as a big pretty chatroom, exploiting doesn't hurt anything. but otherwise, it absolutely does.
and if you're going to throw around claims like "people are just mad because blah blah" it's just as easy for me to say you only defend exploiting because not only did you partake in it (can't deny it, was all over your livestream), but you did so because you're mad you couldn't kill it legit for days.
tl;dr be reasonable. but if you want to make little trollish comments, keep in mind that can just as easily be turned against you.

\O.O/ i don't like bot nor do i know how to operate one, but i have achieve 60m in one week of botany sales!
tldr stop whining/being weak/get more friend/etc
Look. People trying to exploit something
I dont give a damn.
People getting all garuda weapon in day one?
I dont give a damn
People botting and flooding ward with shard?
As a crafter that too lazy craft it own shard, I dont give a damn
People playing for either these reasons, for fun or for achieving something
I'm playing to achieve something, and I dont give a damn bout those who just trying to get some fun by exploiting somethng
I feel the same about this thread as I do about botters, spammers, and people who beg for free gil.
In fact, if I had been ingame and heard this same diatribe about how much gil botters make, and how their crashing prices, and how poor newbies are, would I have been mistaken for believing that the OP was wanting some free gil?
This is XIV not 2.0. Understand you are dealing with a very crappy engine that is easily exploitable. SE can't fix this engine, which is why we are abandoning XIV and moving on to 2.0. You ask why? Because this game isnt living to see 2013, thats why. What point would it serve? You can't plug all the holes, the engine and everything is too shitty. You can't punish ppl, because by the time you finish banning everyone there wont be a paying dollar left. There's just too many exploits, too many holes, and too many players that either purposefully, or accidentally, use them. Why bother, aside from the moral high road? Best you can do is fix exploits you find and leave the players be. Their exploits don't make a lick of difference in the long run because this game is going bye-bye. 2.0 will feature a new engine, better mechanics, and will likely not have any of the exploits ppl are finding now these days. Let ppl go to town on a dying game thats going in the trash heap. Remember XIV is not being patched, its being thrown out. 2.0 is a new disc, new game, new everything. More or less whatever goes on now just doesn't really matter. Bots aren't affecting the economy at all really, not that I can see and im a MW whore. PLing has been around since XI, so im wagering its not an exploit at all. Seems pretty intentional to me given their track record. Garuda exploit was just an oopsy but was patched quickly. So the main question i'm asking (and this is a question, not an argument):
Why does this game still allow the exploits, bots, etc, to continue? If there was an exploit like the blm thing in FFXI they usually fixed it within a few days and often banned people. Here, everyone openly rushes to exploit the game before its fixed. How is that sustainable in a competitive gaming environment when you are trying to attract 1000s of new people? Or is FFXIV supposed to be the new diablo 2 open battle net?
More or less because of the trash engine SE lets a lot of things slide. That, and the game will be entirely new anyway in a few months. Once the new game comes out, the hammer will start swinging.
I have to ask... is this everyone first MMO? because I have yet to find one where someone wasn't bottling or exploiting.
In closing sit down, play the game and enjoy quit complaining ABOUT EVERYTHING.

the way the game and pl is right now they should pretty just make you 50 on your starting class soon as you hit the character creation screen. it honestly wouldnt make the slightest bit of difference if they did.
thats because most new players i see have a class to 50 in 3-4 days. which again relates to the above.
Amen.

Is there really content to justify it taking longer than a few days? Cuz last I checked there's like nothing there except leves and grind.the way the game and pl is right now they should pretty just make you 50 on your starting class soon as you hit the character creation screen. it honestly wouldnt make the slightest bit of difference if they did.
