FFXI was released 10 years ago, bro. The market has changed and matured. MMOs that don't offer interesting or varied leveling experiences usually die off pretty fast.

It may be old but it still has a market there for it, ALL MMO's involve a grind, be it monsters, quests where u go to x kill y amount of mobs and return to x or leves etc, every MMO will have a repetative way to level.

Tell me again, how many new players has FFXI gained over the last 3-4 years?

Yes, there's always a "grind". But most MMOs do well enough to mask it with a lot of variety in quests that reward good exp (FFXIV's don't), PVP, good low and mid level dungeons, good group quests, etc.

What does FFXIV offer? Do some repeatable quests, or just straight up grind monsters.

If you think that that's going to be enough to keep this game afloat or even make it moderately successful, you're dead wrong. This game has to compete with every other boring Korean grinder for a slice of the thinly stretched "I love grinding" market share that's been steadily shrinking over the years.

Yoshida mentioned 2.0 wil have a lot of more quests, so i think they are for to level up. Btw, 2.0 needs more elements/stuff to level up because the levequests become boring after some levels..

I like the current trend of dynamic events in MMOs. Be it Rift or GW2, I think they really bring a layer of fun when you can stumble upon something already happening!

I don't think FFXIV needs to copy other mmorpgs. But the dynamic quest systems employed in other games could always be an interesting addition. There are several ways of masking the boring grind and repeatable quests which we all have to endure. Just like Wolfie mentioned, in order to stay within the market..FFXIV needs to do something with its current leveling systems.

And does anybody really want to be leveling up to 60 doing rank50 levequests... or grinding parties.

These days you talk to an NPC and gain 120,000 exp and gain 80,000 gold, not even having to kill 5 boars. Though given your stance on things, I suppose this is the "real way" to level in MMOs.

Eh time to get over it, leveling on monsters isn't why an MMO does or does not gain players and you know it, for one who talks about others beginning to go for strawman..you sure are being a hypocrite.

You create a character and after you finish the first CS you get insta-50

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

Sounds about right for a 2012 MMO.
