Rival Wings is completely dead

To differentiate *what* sizes needed? If you mean player count, Duty Roulette: Mentor can put you in 4-man, 8-man or 24-man duties of differing role requirements and with everyone being a forced Freelancer in Frontline, all you need is 72 eligible players for Frontline, which is only 50% more than Rival Wings.

The system in this aspect is in fact advanced enough. If you mean another reason / size, let me know.

That said, Rival Wings is in dire need of promotion beyond silly moogle tomestones and a separate Daily Challenge or one sharing with Frontline will definitely benefit it, short and long term.

The point I made still stands, we have rewards that are locked behind content that has been abandoned by the community, making they impossible to obtain. They need to either address the issue of said content not being engaged with anymore, or take the rewards out and make them purchasable elsewhere and consider this content dead and remove it from the game. Not release a brand new pvp mode that will only have the same issue.

What's worse about all of this is that nobody in this community seems to care. Nobody posts on the pvp subforum which is insane and the reason I made this thread because nobody was talking about it. For a month or more, I was playing Rival Wings with good que times. All of a sudden, the community just decides they don't care about this content anymore and collectively abandoned it, leaving me with eternal queue times and no means to get the mount that I had been working towards. People got theirs and just dropped it? Really? That's goddawful. I cannot get this reward anymore, there is nothing I can do about this because both the devs and the community doesn't give a dam.

There needs to be a solution or they're saying they don't care that they have unofficially unobtainable rewards in the game now.

There is a Reason no one plays pvp after they have done their Roulette for extra tomes/exp.

Its just not fun (since Stormblood). I know there are a FEW that like how it is but after the majority did their daily, they are sitting on dry ground too. RW has no daily roulette and there is no Event going on so no one plays it.

To keep a game mode active you need a steady player base plus new players constantly joining to keep the queues active. Tons of new players would quit after their first match going up against experienced players controlling mechs who can literally 1 shot them.

They can do two things;

1. Add Hidden Gorge to the existing daily Frontline queue and rename it to Daily Challenge: Large-scale PvP.
2. Give Astragalos (the original map) a makeover to bring it more inline with HG and then place both maps in a daily rotation queue separate from Frontline.

Even if people get one-shot by veteran players in mechs, I think they will keep playing if the EXP is good.

So those of us who never got the mount are just screwed then? Might as well just move it somewhere else since the community has decided to collectively abandon this content because they got theirs. Or I dunno, do the logical thing and put RW on the daily roulette already.

The Revival PvP discord does its best to at least have RW active during the weekend evenings. They were on break between 6.0 and 6.05 but they will start doing the events again starting this Saturday.

Community has done alot to keep Rival Wings alive but even with big Discord channels its sometimes hard to get a match going. The general XIV community just doesn't care about PvP or want to actively take part in it and many people who do just get their reward and leave it forever The devs have tried to multiple times get more people into PvP by making it easier to get into but at least for Feast that didn't work

Speaking of unobtainable things the 4 player party ranked Feast achievements are some of the rarest ones to get because there has been only 1 season for the last 3 expansions and to complete it you would need to win 500 matches. Some people have tried to farm these in illegitimate ways and got punished for it so those achievements are pretty much not doable even though they are listed in achievement menu o.o

This isn't new news. SE has been struggling with this for about 3 years now or over. Despite the tweaks from time to time there just isn't enough incentives to play Rival Wings at the moment. Astragalos was released in late 2017, and it was only active for 3 months (at least in NA) before the next major patch killed off all activity.

The only realistic solution would be either to give Rival Wings it's own roulette or to rework the current pvp roulette to include all pvp modes. I will take a hard pass on deleting the mode on pvp in general however.

There's a community event on Aether, Primal, and Crystal this saturday and sunday at 8PM EST (and yes also EU though obviously at a different time). Revival discord is organizing it and this will likely be reoccurring. They were just on break for the holidays.

Rival Wings for some odd reason is not included in the frontlines roulette. If they put it in the rotation it would get played.
